Yes you can unscrew it. Be careful it's glued.

Hold the square mount whilst doing it.
Awesome, thanks a lot man! I'll be careful!

Does the lens come off?

I was wondering if it's possible to "unscrew" the lens component of the Pi Camera V1 (5 MP). I attached a picture to show what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to take the entire camera module out of the PCB, just the circular part that contains the lens (the part circled in red, not the ...

VNC Black Screen With 'X'

I have a Raspberry Pi Zero (not Zero W) and set up SSH and everything else, so PuTTY works great. My problem is with VNC Viewer. I changed the resolution to the max setting using 'sudo raspi-config', enabled Desktop Boot, and also enabled the VNC, all through PuTTY (I don't have a Raspberry Pi displ...

Re: Cost-effective device for Image Recognition?

No the python process was a bit over 100MBytes. There were about 200 left free. Beware it was running headless, no GUI just ssh terminal. Also I'd recommend using a Pi 3A+ instead, it isn't much more expensive but at least twice as fast and you can install precompiled tensorflow lite libraries. Con...

Re: Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

Or use the USB Ethernet gadget as shown in the OPs post. Hi rpdom! That's the method I tried, using USB Ethernet gadget. However, I'm still getting that host name error as seen in the original post. I can't find any solutions online. Have you ever used this method to set it up? Make sure that your ...

Re: Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

Just scanning your post - if it's a PiZero (NOT W), how are you expecting to connect it to your network? Am I missing something obvious here, or are you?? :) You need to add either: - a USB-to-wired Ethernet dongle, and an Ethernet patch cable to your router, or - a USB-wifi dongle (in which case t...

Re: Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

True, you don't HAVE to connect it to the internet to do some projects, but you have a choice: - either run it headless, and use your inhouse network to talk to it from another computer, or - connect a keyboard and screen to the Pi directly, and run it in complete isolation, or - connect it via USB...

Re: Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

Just scanning your post - if it's a PiZero (NOT W), how are you expecting to connect to your network? Hi moobie, thanks for your reply. I'm not exactly sure; I'm completely new to Raspberry Pi and am only following the directions. I read that once you insert your OS to the microSD, you need to do a...

Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

Hi all, I'm brand new to Raspberry Pi and purchased my first Pi (Pi Zero... but not the W model... just the $5 Zero) yesterday! I don't have a display/keyboard/mouse to use with it, so I was trying to do the setup in headless mode. I first downloaded the Raspberry Pi OS Lite version to my 8GB microS...

Re: Cost-effective device for Image Recognition?

Well... the curiosity killed the cat. What a way to spend a Sunday morning. After some pain I could manage to run tf lite on pi zero w, roughly as explained in the video above and its github pages. The detection on image attached took 55 seconds, but after I measured times on various parts of the s...

Re: Cost-effective device for Image Recognition?

@blimpyway Hmm, thanks for trying it out! I think Tensorflow Lite is supported by 32 bit systems, according to: https://www.tensorflow.org/lite/microcontrollers Therefore, I think it may still work since it sounded like you didn't run into any other problems, except that Darknet wasn't supported by ...

Re: Cost-effective device for Image Recognition?

Well, 10 minutes is an awful long time. Can you post a sample image? That or share details like: - are there many cars in the frame? - is only a fixed frame spot/area and distance from camera which needs to be focused on? - does plate number usually shows in the image? A sample image would be much ...

Re: Cost-effective device for Image Recognition?

@blimpyway Thanks for your response! I think what I want to do is actually simpler than that. I will attach the camera/computer to my garage, and I just want the computer to take a single photo every 10 minutes, and then process that photo. There are multiple different cars. When it detects and clas...

Cost-effective device for Image Recognition?

I'm brand new to Raspberry Pi (and microcomputers in general) and I'm working on a project that will require me to use a computer such as those produced by Raspberry Pi. I've been reading around this forum as well as other sites, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer that a super beginner lik...
