Re: Making a NAS with R.Pi

The simple problem is that you wont be happy with the Transfer rates which the Pi is able to offer. Reading through the forum people state that they experienc transfer rates of 200kb/s up to 2MB/s using FTP or Samba, which is in fact incredibly slow. But there is no other way finding out than trying...

Re: Debian wheezy Vs Alfa AWUS036NH

I hope you try using that Wifi Adapter together with an active USB Hub?
This Adapter is one of these high Power WarDriving Wifi Adapters (i own an old Alfa from there very first badge) and i think it will need much more Power from the USB Port than the Pi can handle.

Re: RaspberryPI keeps crashing

I dont think there is a point on the PCB to measure the actual current the Pi needs, or?

Than i will have to "Mod" an old USB Cable.

Re: using 4 AA batteries to power the Pi

Just measrue the current your Pi need's on your specific setup and you can easily calculate yourself how long you Pi will run. For example if it needs 700mA it will approx. run 3 hours on good Sanyo Eneloops (which have 2000 to 2100 mAh). You just have to make sure that there is no foulty Eneloop un...

Re: RaspberryPI keeps crashing

I still had the problem that my Pi crashed when i did my first experiments with it at the weekend using Raspbmc. Unfortunately i havent got any time to look at it further, so til now i dont know if it was the power supply (using that one which came with my iPad 1), the Wifi Adapter (a Logilink Wirel...

Re: Making a NAS with R.Pi

Using the Pi as a "real" NAS faces some problems. First of all it only has fast ethernet. Second you can only connect storage via USB 2.0. HDD's are only connectable via an external hub. But if you want to make some experiments, grab yourself a copy of Raspbian, install Samba on it and share a direc...
