Re: Spotting scope to Camera HQ
My wife got a new bird watching spotting scope https://www.celestron.com/products/regal-m2-80ed-spotting-scope and I wonder if i can fix my HQ camera on it. From linked page: T-Adapter ring included for easy 35mm/DSLR photography. So as gordon77 wrote, you need T-mount to C-mount adapter, there are...

Re: What is the value of R2 resistor on HQ Cam board?
Oh, I missed that document - thank you very much!
So it is 0402 size, soldering gonna be "fun".
update: I soldered 0603 sized resistor in its place (only 1K I had on hand). Looks terrible but it works.

Re: Creating higher resolution framebuffer for official 7" display
Thanks! I'm going to try it out, looks like a proper solution. In the meantime I found a workaround by commenting out following line from /boot/config.txt dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d it causes RPi 4 to fall back into Legacy Graphics Mode where framebuffer settings in cmdline.txt work. I also managed to c...

Creating higher resolution framebuffer for official 7" display
Hi, I need to run a GUI app that assumes 720p+ screen resolution on 7" display but I cannot force system to create higher resolution framebuffer. It seems that back in the days there was a way to set it in /boot/config.txt ( https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=184762 ) but it doe...

Is removal of IR filters necessary for getting the star photo? I don't think so, this is the same scene in visible light (with a shooting star): https://i.imgur.com/NjZIJk8.jpg Can you show same photo without tweaking in Lightroom? I'm taking only RAW files so I needed to do some adjustments so tha...

Milky Way outside of my window yesterday. 239s exposure, Arducam M25156H18 M12 lens with removed IR filters from both lens and camera and a bit of image tweaking in Lightroom. Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Gallery
Hmmm, so should I not get something like a Canon FD mount 400mm f4.5 (or f5.6) for use with the HQ camera? Was considering that, as I can probably find one of those lenses for about 1/4 the cost of the RedCat. But am I going to be sorely disappointed? I don't think you will be sorely disappointed. ...

Re: Occasionally broken RAW files
If not, then your other software to create tiff has a bug. Well, those TIFFs were created using 6by9's dcraw (if you use -T option you get .tiff output instead of .ppm). Thank you for information about file structure, will be useful for something else I'm doing. Almost certainly it is interference ...

Occasionally broken RAW files
I had this issue since day one but never found a solution or workaround. Those are TIFFs created from RAW captured with raspistill. https://i.imgur.com/WvTgOEzl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rtClcCMl.jpg This my Photo Library from one night, I took 713 images in total and 61 of them were broken: https://i...

No, it is there to make use of timelapse function of raspistill to capture sequential images. -t 3600000: over 1 hour (3600000 milliseconds)... --shutter 30000000: ...take 30s (30000000 microseconds) long exposures... --timelapse 500: ...with 0.5s (500 milliseconds) pauses between them You also need...

May I ask what settings were used for the sensor? Sure! Turning off hot pixel correction: sudo vcdbg set imx477_dpc 0 Acquiring 30s long exposures for 1 hour (I'm using self compiled version of raspistill, because official build used to have issues with exposures longer than 21 seconds. I think it ...

What are using to power the Peltier? I'm using 12V 1.5A power supply. I see that there are 5V Peltiers on Amazon and Alibaba, I also tried connecting my Peltier to 5V phone charger and it works albeit it feels like it does not get as cool as with 12V. I have ordered 20Ah powerbank few days ago - I'...

Stuck focus ring on HQ Camera
After few weeks away I came back to my camera and now I cannot turn focus ring at all. I tried raw force, tried freezing inside using canned air, removed screw on top, made DIY wrench to have better grip and nothing works, it feels like it is welded. Did any of you have such issue and if so how did ...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Gallery
Yes, 120 photos of 21 second exposures. I do not use longer exposure times because my star tracker is designed for visual observation with telescope and cannot keep good tracking for longer time with such long focal length and small sensor (stars become lines). I already had to remove about 30% of f...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Gallery
My astrophotography results so far. Those are way too short exposure times (40 minutes) to get impressive results, but I'm still learning and prefer to take 10 shorter exposures and learn instead of spending 3 night catching light from single target and getting mediocre result anyway. DeepSkyStacker...

Re: HQ Camera on-sensor defective pixel correction (DPC)
Thank you for this change, much appreciated! I'm away from my camera for next month, but I cannot wait to test this feature for astrophotography and will do it as soon as possible and report results. With dithering, stacking and dark frame subtraction it should pretty straightforward to remove hot p...

Re: Problem getting proper focus using Pi Hq Camera with 16mm lens
You didn't screw in CS to C mount adapter https://i.imgur.com/hYa1LVI.png https://static.raspberrypi.org/files/product-guides/Typical_C-Mount_Lens_Guide.pdf 6mm lens is CS type so it does not need it, but 16mm is C-mount and it needs more distance between lens and sensor. Adapter should have been at...

Re: HQ Camera and Astrophotography
General idea works with lenses too, but on smaller optics pattern is less noticeable. On 200/2.8 full frame lens it is already barely visible, but just enough to get perfect focus (might be due to my poor cutting skills). For 35mm focal length and 16mm aperture a filled black circle is generated as ...

Those are really impressive results, I need to lay my hands on one of those or a dedicated microscope C-mount lens.
