How to boot rotated Qt app wihout desktop?

Hello. I'm trying to make my Qt GUI application boot automatically but can't find any working solution that would meet my requirements. What I need: - the app should boot as fast as possible wihout displaying desktop (users won't have acces to anything except my app) - it must be rotated 180 (touchs...

Displaying logo when booting with kernel 5.4.

Hello. Before updating to new Raspbian OS with kernel 5.4 I could change the kernel boot splash screen to my own graphic, by downloading kernel, changing the logo_custom_clut224.ppm file to my own graphic and recompiling the kernel. Then I had my graphic displayed the entire boot sequence until my a...

Re: Setting custom graphic on early boot.

No it's not what I'm looking for. Right now I have disabled all splash screens and boot messages from appearing on the screen. I recompiled the kernel with my custom logo (I replaced the "raspberries logo" by overwrite "logo_linux_clut224.ppm" with my graphic) so it shows right a...

Re: Setting custom graphic on early boot.

What I had in mind is boot sequence that happens BEFORE the splash screen you mentioned appears (where the bootloader or something like that runs). This 4-5 second right after the power is on, when the rainbow is displayed, which I disabled with disable_splash=1, so I have a 4-5 seconds of nothing h...

Re: Setting custom graphic on early boot.

You mean the rainbow splash screen which can be disabled by

Code: Select all

disable_splash=1
in

Code: Select all

/boot/config.txt
?
Can I replace it with my custom graphic?

Setting custom graphic on early boot.

Hello. I have a question. At the beginning of the Raspberry Pi 4 boot, before the kernel is loaded and anything shows on the screen, there is a delay (about 4-5 sec), when the screen is black. Is there a possibility to shorten this delay or at least display something like custom splash screen? Somet...

Re: Show splash screen ASAP

Hello. I wasn't totally fine with the results I had, so I found another solution which works for me the best. I changed the boot logo in kernel, recompile it and run my Qt app directly to the framebuffer. Now my splash screen shows after about 4-5 seconds and stays on the screen until my custom app ...

Re: Disabling services to run at boot and enable them later.

I tried to run my Qt app directly to framebuffer and it works great. But the problem is that the app doesn't look nice anymore, like the widgets have lost their styles. Another problem I have is with touchscreen rotation. When using X, I rotate my touchscreen in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinpu...

Disabling services to run at boot and enable them later.

Hello. I have a question regarding services. I use my Raspberry Pi as an embedded board for my project. I need it to boot as fast as possible to my application which is a Qt GUI app. What I've done so far: - in /boot/config.txt added: initial_turbo=30, disable_splash=1, uncommented: dtoverlay=vc4-fk...

Re: Show splash screen ASAP

I commented the line:

Code: Select all

# dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
and it shortened the time when the display is blank. Now the splash screen disappears for a split second which is much better.

Thanks for the help.

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 4GB RAM. I'm trying different things to get it to boot to my app which is Qt GUI application and hide the underlying system from the user. Re: Show splash screen ASAP

I tried again with the fork you provided but had the same error "gif_lib.h no such file or directory" so I tried your new Initramfs Splash. It works, the splash screen lasts longer on screen but it appears for a moment than the screen goes black for a bit and the splash screen reappears ag...

Re: Show splash screen ASAP

You can use an initramfs to display an image within 1-2 seconds after boot. Depending on your setup and needs you can do away with Plymouth. I have an older guild to achieve this here https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=215317#p1335189 Hello. Thanks for the guide, I tried it...

Hello. I'm asking for your help with making a custom splash screen when booting Pi 4. I already managed to replace a splash screen and got rid of all text and other stuff that is displayed when booting. What I did: - replaced the "/usr/share/plymouth/themes/pix/splash.png" to my custom gra...
