with a compatible LVDS to DVI/HDMI converter board. its probably best to source a converter board first and then find a netbook screen than the other way around. or get one of those car DVD player screens that accepts hdmi

you'd need a usb soundcard with a line in, but other than that it could be good. you could gut a mini keyboard and use it as a custom onboard usb controller or attach rotary encoders to the gpio pins for fiddling with settings rather than do it over the network.

if it works with ubuntu it'll work on most linux distributions, although it may not work out-of-the-box like on ubuntu if the module isn't compiled into the kernel

and what happens when the battery starts to run out during a prolonged power outage? a true UPS should warn of low power and shutdown safely at some point too, before it gets too weak :p

play.com managed to send me the wrong class of card twice in a row last year. make sure you read what it says on the card when you receive it, because i dont think the packers in the warehouse do...

there isn't an arm version of flash. whilst this isnt too much of a problem for youtube (since it can present you with an html5/mp4 alternative), a lot of other random video sites ones won't.

the line out jack has some power. if you can drive headphones with it, you should be able to drive a small speaker. saying that, gpio would be more fun
