Re: Wifi Direct Enabled

For those attempting to use WiFi direct with the rpi 3, you will still need an external wireless adapter as the wireless chip used on board does not support the WiFi direct interface. Hopefully that will get updated in the future with a new chips etc that does support it, but until then, please util...

Re: Wifi Direct Enabled

Hi Gordon, In order to make it automatic, you will have to make code modifications to the files you create when running the install script in my guide. I did this when doing my initial testing of wifi direct, and can be seen here: https://github.com/bass0324/Senior_Design/tree/master/Wi-Fi%20Direct/...

bendavis wrote:I bought the wifi adapter you suggested, but the driver loaded (r8712u) does not seem to support p2p. What driver are you using for this?
I used the standard Linux firmware for the Realtek devices, as seen by my install of it.

sudo apt-get install firmware-realtek

Re: Wifi Direct Enabled

Hello John, Thanks for your instructions. I followed them and got the WiFi_Direct_User_Interface installed. At the end of the build it prompted "WiFi_Direct_User_Interface install complete!!!!!!!". I run ./P2P_UI wlan0 and the UI shows up. But when I enter the command e, 1. It gives me an error: In...

Re: Wifi Direct Enabled

I've just got hold of the Broadcom Wifi Adapter. It's advertised as supporting Infrastructure mode, Wi-Fi Direct and soft-AP mode. Does anyone know how to configure it on my RPi to work in Wi-Fi Direct mode ? I want to use it to stream video to my Nexus 5 initially but ultimately to an RPi attached...

Wifi Direct Enabled

For anyone else who is wishing to use WiFi-Direct with the Raspberry Pi to connect with Android devices, I have finally achieved this. At first I tried to use any WiFi USB Dongle and recompile wpa_supplicant with p2p enabled but this didn't work. Then I found this guide: http://dishingtech.blogspot....

Re: Need Help With Writing C Code to Write to GPIOs

Thank you for your help, I will look into that, but it seems to look very promising with what I am trying to accomplish and I will start reading up on those topics. There are two other things that I would like to accomplish as well and if you can point me to how to do it that would be great! First, ...

Need Help With Writing C Code to Write to GPIOs

So let me start off by saying I am new to compiling in C, but I have programmed in C before. I am looking to interface my Raspberry Pi with a LED Matrix display I created for use with a an Arduino. I have a full code for the Arduino (with much help from a friend) that works great with the matrix, bu...

Re: spidev in Raspbian help

When I do "sudo modprobe spidev" it returns nothing so I assume it goes through just fine. I have also tried lsmod in /dev/ and also ls -l /dev/spi* and neither of them could find anything spi related in the /dev folder. I am not seeing I2C or SPI at all. Also, I just redid my Raspbian image based o...

spidev in Raspbian help

I am trying to use the spi port on the Raspbian OS for the Pi but I am unable to see spidev in /dev/. Is there anything I can do to get this to show up? I tried a modprobe spidev, also rpi-update and neither worked. I know everything I have found online about the spi bus was using the Debian weezy v...

Question about USB psu

So I know there are a lot of posts about powered USB hubs and the pi, but I can't seem to find a clear answer to me specific question. If I have a USB hub which back feeds the rpi through the USB cable that connects the two, but I have a reliable 3 amp supply, is that ok to use to feed the pi?

Re: WIFI Direct Dongle

I found these things from Samsung called TecTiles which allow you to program them to setup something on your phone. These is what I would use to swipe my device against, then it would automatically set it up in order stream the video. Requires absolutely no power or extreme costs. http://www.samsung...

Re: WIFI Direct Dongle

The idea and reason for the wifi direct dongle was because I wanted to use the pi with new android devices to automatically stream all video content from the device. I also wanted no user setup required by integrating an NFC tag which automatically pairs the device with the pi and automatically star...
