Re: Pi Camera and Scratch not working

Just to confirm that using the latest update in the Raspbian update, I've now got this working. I've run the "take a photo 20 times" test about five times and it's worked each time now (it never more than about half the photos before). Thank you for fixing this and for investigating further when you...

Re: Pi Camera and Scratch not working

Hi Tim Just to confirm I've run your simple script to take 20 photos and in my test run, it only took 12 the first time, and 6 the second time. Thank you for posting the possible fix. How do I install it? I've tried sudo apt-get install scratch and it says I'm running the latest version, but I'm sti...

Re: Pi Camera and Scratch not working

Thanks for testing this, Tim. I understand you can't fix something you haven't replicated, but I still think there is a bug. For my test, I photographed six playing cards in order using broadcast photo. As a control experiment, I also did the same thing using the Camera button and Python. I only hav...

Pi Camera and Scratch not working

I think I've found a bug in the way the Pi camera works with Scratch. Using a Pi 2 and the Raspberry Pi camera, I've observed inconsistent behaviour when taking a photo. My code is: when green flag clicked broadcast "gpioserveron" when space key pressed broadcast "photo" say "photo taken" for 2 secs...

Re: Scratch bug with sprite scaling

Sorry for the delay - I've been away from the Pi. Thanks for that great demo Gerhard, and to Tim for looking into it. I've attached here a picture too that shows what happens when the sprite shrinks to less than 100%, where the effect can be even more pronounced. In the picture, the costume centre i...

Scratch bug with sprite scaling

I believe I've found a bug in the latest version of Scratch on the Raspberry Pi. I've compared it with Scratch 1.4 on PC and Scratch 2.0 on PC. Here's how to replicate it: - Change the background to the x-y grid (for reference) - Edit the cat's costume. Add a black dot to the left of the cat. - Chan...

VLC won't play music

I'm having problems with VLC. When I play a track, I hear a pop/crackle, but don't hear any music. The volume is turned up on the speakers (I hear the crackle!), and in VLC (it's at about 100% on the triangle control at the bottom right). Raspbmc and LXMusic are playing music fine. I've run sudo apt...

Re: Startx

Very strange. I haven't come across this problem, but a good starting point would be to check that you're using a compatible keyboard, USB hub and mouse. See if it starts up if you disconnect them after entering the startx command, perhaps.

Re: Scratch sound instruments

Just to confirm that I've also found this issue and haven't found a solution for it. As far as I can see, the instruments aren't working at the moment on the Raspberry Pi.

Re: Is it possible to switch to a different OS?

Yes, you can do this. I have separate SD cards for Raspbian, XBMC and RISC OS and just swap in whichever one I want to use whenever I want to use it.

Re: Database of Pi projects

I've been thinking of this too, although I thought of creating it as a simple links directory. It's a relatively crude solution, but it's easy to search, works with any resource type, and is relatively quick to set up.

Scratch sound instruments

Hi all I've been playing with sound on the Raspberry Pi. I've got Scratch to play the samples (albeit quietly and scratchily), and it can play the instruments too. The problem is all the instruments sound the same. All the drums sound like the same drum, and all the instruments (grand piano, xylopho...

Adding users to 'audio' group (Linux permissions)

Hi all I'm a Linux newbie. I can't get sound to play in Scratch or audio players. The speakers work fine (tested on another computer), and hello_audio.bin compiled and worked okay (I heard the wow sound). I've read a lot online and I believe I need to give users permission to access the sound card b...
