New Rpi4 eeprom image documentation?

I noticed rpi-eeprom-image was updated to 5.4.1. However, I can't find a changelog. Anyone have a link to the changelog repository?

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 and Raspberry Pi 4 support

Yes, I've been considering my options. I spent today trying Ubuntu 19.10.1 because it has better hardware support, but it keeps installing desktops with "Activities". These are horrible and I can't spend any more time trying to figure out how to make them workable. I tried xubuntu, lubuntu, and ubun...

Re: Ubuntu from SSD - easy method

The fstab looks as follows: LABEL=writable / ext4 defaults 0 0 LABEL=system-boot /boot/firmware vfat defaults 0 1 This doesn't appear like it needs changing. I did alter the code with UUID=xxxx of the USB drive on the first line but it didn't (apparently) change anything. I'm going for a fresh re-in...

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 and Raspberry Pi 4 support

Which desktop is generally most compatible on the Pi 4? I have ubuntu-mate currently running from a fresh install, although it gives me an error window upon loading the desktop environment. I've gone through the log files and not yet identified the problem, but it doesn't seem to affect anything tha...

Re: Ubuntu from SSD - easy method

Working.

Mount the boot partition of the SD card using a different computer. Edit /boot/cmdline.txt and change the path to /sda2

Code: Select all

console=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/sda2 rootfstype=ext4

Re: Ubuntu from SSD - easy method

Hmmm ... this doesn't seem to work. I used Raspberry Pi Imager to write Ubuntu 18.04.4 (Pi 3/4) 64 Server OS onto both an SD card and USB 3.0 flash drive. Using gparted (on a different workstation), I removed partition 2 from the SD card and partition 1 from the USB drive. Then both devices were ins...

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 and Raspberry Pi 4 support

I installed 18.04.4 today on Pi 4 using the default Ubuntu server edition selection in the Raspberry Pi Imager onto SD card. It booted flawlessly and I installed Ubuntu-Mate. It installed flawlessly. The Mate desktop is great and the system performs well. the only limitation is the SD card. I am wor...

Pi4 Ubuntu-Mate boot from SD and OS and USB3

This thread is to setup pi4 to boot from SD card and load Ubuntu-Mate from USB3 flash drive or SSD. I use the Rasberry Pi Imager program to install Ubuntu 64 bit 18.04.4 onto an SD card. After booting on the Pi4, the Mate desktop can be installed. I inserted a high-speed USB3 drive and created a par...

setting up bcache on Pi4

I have my Pi 4 configured to boot from SD Card on Raspbian. I was wanting to buffer the relativly slow SD Card with a high-speed USB 3.0 memory stick using bcache (or similar). I can't seem to get past the make-bcache command because the new block does not appear as a cache device. bcache was merged...
