Re: Pi board ideas please

Love this idea as it allows physical computing within the confines of the school set up. Have a look at PiBakery http://www.pibakery.org/ You can pre-configure your set up with VNC and/or SSH enabled. You can also set a different host name for each Pi so you know which ones the kids are logged into....

Re: APP: play tracks from youtube !

Can someone share a full action.py with this capability enabled. I've tried to get it working and it isn't working. I don't know python well enough to troubleshoot as looking at the the action.py file looks like it's not correct. Seems wrong to me that return actor is below the Makers! Add your own ...

Re: APP: play tracks from youtube !

This is fantastic
Also, a nice guide on adding a command.

I want to be able to play podcasts. I assume if i find a command line player that can take a podcast stream something similar would work.

Speaker is very crackly [solved]

I've done the install and enable the API. When I press the button to give a command it looks like it's working and that PI is trying to play the audio but it's not working. I've tried removing and re-tightening the screen terminal block. Any advise appreciated. This is a link to a short YouTube vide...

Re: Concatenate two svg/png images

For concatenating 2 png files checkout ImageMagick if you want to do it with a script.
If you want to do it using a GUI graphics program then GIMP works well on Pi3. A little slow to start up but once open runs well.

Re: Super Noob Question

Check out https://www.mydevices.com/ . They've a cool Raspberry Pi/Dashboard thing that could make this really easy and not require any coding. Each Pi would be given a name, so you wouldn't need to care about their IP address. Then the sensors are added to each Pi. Finally you set up your Dashboard...

Re: 12v to 5v tft wiring

Read the post and I think this is the line that matters the most (Excuse my messy desk) But here you can see the red wire is soldered to a resistor that lets me power the LCD at 5V. They're saying it's the resistor. If you've a multimeter or a way of checking continuity it might be worth seeing if t...

No problem.
On 2 or 3 I'm not sure as the picture isn't from a great angle.

Where did these pictures come from?

What message are you getting back. maybe try the following to see the output: echo exec("python /home/pi/Documents/mail/checkmail.py"); It would be worth readin g the details on the exec command. Your server maybe setup to only permit commands from a certain directory to be executes. http://php.net/...

Re: Raspberry learning curve

The flippant answer is a resounding Yes, sometimes. But, as someone who build PC-ISA cards, programmed them in assembly and PowerBasic using the Pi for development will most of the time seem like a breeze. For the project you've mentioned I'd expect it has been done already on the Raspberry Pi, so m...

Re: 12v to 5v tft wiring

Using the 3rd picture as a reference. They've removed the white connector at the bottom of the board and attached the black, white and yellow wires to the pads. The red wire is connected to the left of the transistor just above and to the left. For the Pi2 B+ Composite. There 3.5mm Jack includes com...

Re: Need help: temperature display....

If an analog output then something like a MCP3008 with GPIOZero for the code would get the data. The DOGM 132x32 looks like it's SPI, so again with the Python support for SPI it should be possible to drive it. For the display this might be useful: http://seafoid.org/2014/01/ea-dog-m162-character-dis...

Re: Analog audio problems? post comments here!

I've used ear bug headphones and also connected Pi 2 to external speakers using 3.5mm jack with out any problems.
The wiring of the jack means stereo 3.5mm plugs should work.
You do have to select the right audio output though. If you have a screen attached to the HDMI port it will default to HDMI.

Right click the volume icon in the top bar on the right and you should be able to select Analog which is the 3.5mm jack.

Re: motor pins can not be activated at the same time

What do you mean is not working. Does the code give an error? Does the wheels turn? What is the rest of the code? There may be a problem in the setup. If you remove the wiimote input can you drive the motors straight from code. So, no if statements. I usually begin by: motor one forward. - Test. mot...

Re: Raspberry PI and Open CV

Not sure what you are asking. The camera will take a moment to take a picture and save it. OpenCV will take a moment to process it and this depends on what you are asking OpenCV to do. Then the action you are requesting to happen will take it's necessary amount of time. If adding a motor for somethi...
