Old OS won't boot on new Pi

I just got a batch of 4 new Raspberry Pis from Newark Electronics. Model B, REV 2 with the mounting holes. Silk screening on the back of the board includes "KCE MC1", "94V-0 F1", "07/02" and "13:01", "3A." I hope that is enough to establish that these are the very latest. I copied an image of Arch L...

Re: Stream USB webcam over WiFi with low CPU

If you want low CPU loading, check out mjpg-streamer: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=15369 http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8659 I am currently serving 5 frames/second of 752x416 resolution, and the CPU load is only 3.0%. Some qualifiers: the USB webcam ...

See http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 39#p164539

A package is available on Arch Linux ARM. For Raspbian (wheezy), I give detailed instructions on how to compile it using the subversion code.

Re: webcam very low fps

@CrystalCowboy: You said here that you're able to stream 640x360 with CPU @1% FPS? What is the delay in the received stream? Lol this is hard to believe... Am I missing something here? It's true! :ugeek: OS is Arch 3.1.9-20-ARCH+ #1 PREEMPT The RPi is on the same 10/100/1000 LAN with my des...

I can recommend fswebcam, which does exactly that. It is available as a package with both Arch and Raspbian.

Re: webcam very low fps

By the way, it looks like one difference between the Logitech webcam, and the $10 type is that the Logitech supports MJPEG (the cheap cam lists only the first option, YUYV). Yes, this is to be expected, since the MJPEG format images take up ~ 20X less space than YUYV. fswebcam is a useful utility f...

Re: webcam very low fps

Some webcams I have tried on Raspbian(wheezy) and Arch with fswebcam: Hercules Deluxe Optical Glass : YUYV format only. I like this because it is cheap, and has an adjustable focus lens. Wheezy: 160x120 176x144 352x288 (the default resolution). Arch: works only at default resolution (352x288). Any a...

Re: Mjpg-Streamer

Getting MJPG-streamer working under Raspberry Pi would be a major breakthrough in usability. IP camera for $35 is significant. However I am sure the source will not compile so we need a guru help here to make it work under Raspberry Pi All the other streamers are just inadequate comparison to MJPG-...
