GPIO current draw

I wish to use the GPIO pins to activate a logic circuit on an external motherboard. The logic will be implemented on 'old' TTL chips - typically SN74.. series. However I am concerned that I may draw too much current from the GPIO source ? Maybe a buffering device between the GPIO input and the logic...

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Success - found an obscure submenu item 'SSID cache' (hidden) unticked & wifi found & connected !!! That was the issue. Why would the Access point need to be hidden I wonder? Hidden or not my other wifi connected devices were not affected. Thanks for all who offered ideas & suggestion /DonMI

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Thanks for this suggestion. I am not familiar with 'hidden' access points but I will investigated. I have several other devices on my WiFi Network which work well.

BTW - is Access Point & SSID one & the same ?

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Still floundering..... tried full reinstall with a WiFi USB dongle in place . Again the Raspbian install was good. In the post-install config phase AGAIN!! no WiFi network detected/reported. This sort-of mitigates a bad on-board WiFi fault. Out of ideas.

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

I agree the external antenna is a long shot - will try a USB WiFi dongle and see what turns up - will let you know /DonMI

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Thanks for yr prompt reply. If I proceed from the pop up with Next or Skip the set-up procedure continues in a good manner but of course at the end of all that there is no WiFi capability. Then starting the hit/miss process of various s/w params but this yields no connectivity, To answer yr question...

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Starting from NOOBS_v3_3_1.zip I performed a full installation of Raspbian using all default setting. All went well. Here I correct myself. The pop up screen which should (I think) show all detected wireless networks occurs in the set up phase following the 1st post-install boot not during the actua...

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Again thanks for these ideas/suggestions. I will do a fresh install (using defaults) and take a screenshot or photo of the 1st indication that there is a WiFi issue. That is when the install screen pops up with a list of detected wireless networks & asks installer to make a selection. In my case the...

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Thanks for these suggestions. The upper task bar show wlan0 as Not associated. I will willingly (re)try a fresh install but I have done this numerous times with various o/s which are included on NOOBS. In all cases no WiFi. I am trying to contact the supplier (RS) to return the unit for a replacemen...

Re: Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Thanks for this confirmation that this model is designed with WiFi . I return to my original question.....why do I see no WiFi activity on the device ? From the Raspberian install onwards no WiFi found altho I have other devices connected to my local wireless network. Many s/w configs tried in /etc ...

Pi B - no WiFi - ever!

Hello , my first post on the Forum so I hope I respect the protocols. I bought a Raspberry Pi B about 2 months ago. Since then I have tried numerous ways to get the WiFi up but without success. Installing Raspberian - when the process arrives at 'look for WiFi networks' nothing is detected altho' I ...
