It seems to this Bear of Very Little Brain that if you haven't got past the stage of "Connection refused" then it really doesn't matter whether there is a default username + password, because you are not able to enter them.
I had monitor and keyboard temporarily attached.

"Connection refused" when attempting SSH login.

Is there a default username + password?

I thought I would be able to ssh into it, but "Connection refused" so I don't know what's up there.

I tried etcher before going the command line route, but it failed completely. It just said "Something went wrong. If it is a compressed image [etc.]". The lack of information as to what "went wrong" is astounding. The SHA sums are okay. I don't have a Windows computer so can't test the validity of t...

First (and all subsequent) boot fails

Pi 3b+. I've created an image from a download of 2020-02-13-raspbian-buster-lite.zip and can't get past a kernel panic on boot - "not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x00007f00"

I've looked in /var/log and none of the log files have anything in them.

Any ideas?
