Re: Downloading VLC for streaming camera

What is your vlc version?
vlc -v

Just asking since I only got streaming working with 2.0.3. I can't get it work with 2.2.4, but of course it may work if done properly.

Re: Bluetooth LE keyboard support?

It basically looks good except that it does not work. And I do get a lot of (about 15 per second) these in dmesg:
Bluetooth: SMP security requested but not available

Just tried and I was not able to get my Bean+ to work as HID with BlueZ 5.43 :(

Re: Bluetooth LE keyboard support?

As far as I know the bluez in RPI3 does not support LE HID, which your keyboard probably uses.
I suffer this myself and would be very happy if somebody prooves me wrong or gives a workaround.

Re: Ogranizing Python program

Just a small correction: python (unlike c) allows forward reference, so you can put functions (def) anywhere you want (so also after you refer it first time).

Re: Pi camera project progress

about -25C. The cold Raspis do not use GPU and they are not version 3, so they run cooler.
I am still waiting to see what happens when it goes below -30C, which does not happen every year.

I have several (5 actually) Pis outside and I have seen CPU temperature go below 0C. I was positively surprised that the temperature was reported right like -10C. None of my Pis has any issues.

Re: SQL mystery

In the latter nonworking example your cursor is local to each def, so when you call b() there is no open cursor.

In the working example your cursor is global so you can refer to it anywhere in the code.

Re: network status script: synthax error

$? is the status of the last command.
After
echo $?
it shows the status of echo, which is pretty often 0.

How do you turn the video drivers on? What do you mean by that?
(Asking since basically they are on by default...)

Re: GPIO Wiring to CAT5 (or similar) with DHT22

How long is the distance?
If more than 100m, I doubt it will work.

I would use the blue and brown lines as they are not used in normal ethernet. And you really should use only 3 cables (instead of combining 2 for example and use 6).

I have similar setups and it works without issues.

Re: System crash when running a program during boot

If it works sometimes, it sounds like a timing issue.
Try adding sleep 30 before your program into /etc/rc.local

I broke mine also. And I do not remember breaking anything before, so that thing is really fragile. You need to push it down at the same time when closing it to avoid breaking it.

Check viewtopic.php?f=38&t=142279

I bet it is vlc which causes this slowness. Not much you can do for it unless you can downgrade.

That sounds strange. My Android tablet has not shown me any advert at all during the first year I have been using it.
