./emulationstation doesn't work? I haven't tried it in a while. What is the error you get?

It is a sweet looking case. For its price I think Ill just stick to taking old copper heat sinks off of trash motherboards in the closet.

Re: raspberry pi 4

I would happily settle for die shrinks of what is available optimized for lower power consumption and heat. I know not all features shrink evenly with new process nodes, but if a new product came out with the same specs and better power consumption I would replace the two Pi I still use.

I just dremmel off the connectors when I need to cram a pi in something. Sure it looks like crap but it hasn't failed me yet. Just make sure you don't slip and hit the board.

Re: My latest project - rPi3 powered RPG Digital Map Table

That is pretty sexy. I've been playing D&D for many years and I always wondered when someone would come up with one of these. One good option with a table like that would be to have a remote player on the map. Nothing sucks worse than having to stop mid adventure for a friend to get deployed to a wa...

Re: Pi zero N64 and Dreamcast

Dreamcast... No way. It will run at maybe 1fps even overclocked to the hilt.

PS1 is a trickier answer. Some games will run acceptably when it is overclocked to extreme levels but many will not. This based on my use of the Pi 1. You are much better off with a Pi 3.

Re: Arcade build questions

Should be easy enough. All the newer pi have 4 USB ports. You can use two extension cables or a hub and a extension to bring ports to the side of the cab.

You may however encounter some config nightmares by allowing users to freely plug and unplug USB controllers.

I have yet to see one that doesn't fit. I'm not saying someone couldn't design one. The foundation has been very mindful to keep the format as close to the same as possible.

Re: Emulation on the Pi3: Initial Testing

Hey Welshy, So I guess the big question in my mind here is... Is it worth it to put down for a Pi3 from a Pi2? I'm sure that it comes down to titles played and most of what I play is older stuff. Now and then I may want to give SOTN a roll on the PSX but that is about it. I have a fleet of Pi2 in op...

If you got Valve to let loose of the source or binaries for the steam link you would have a better chance. Since it runs on an arm processor.

Making a Pi zero a HID device. Found this on Hackaday

http://isticktoit.net/?p=1383

I was going to convert a cordless joystick to a corded one soon and the price of "zero delay" encoders is way too much... So seeing this would make my project cheaper. I figured I would share. Now all I need to do is get my hands on a zero.

The list of supported devices for Lune its almost all Google nexus devices and none of the devices its a R Pi. So the first step would be buying a compatible device.

I don't trust Wikipedia (anybody can edit) because there is no telling if what's on there is right or wrong :) Wikipedia has been found to be more accurate than most. There are many checking the facts on Wiki. Plus errors can be fixed where a printed publication has no option. http://www.zmescience...

Re: cheapest xbox controller alternative

CEC and the TV remote. You will just need to fix the config.txt so that your pi isn't always changing your TVs input or turning it on when it reboots.

I had to turn the option on in my TV settings after that the remote that came with my visio worked fine.

No DC, not even close to possible. N64 is about as far as you can emulate. It and ps1 are far from perfect and both require heavy over clocks.

Re: Still have SD card corruption issue?

Anything else plugged in? Like a Wi-Fi adapter, or a hdd (anything that could cause a dip in voltage)? I have never personally had issues with iPad chargers even with extreme overclocks. I do use nice thick cables, and power where I live is good. A number of years back I lived out in the country and...

Re: 2 Pis running in parallel?

There are generally 4 areas that can be paralleled in an emulator (yes a tad simplified). Cpu, gpu, sound, input output. Two of them have tight coupling... the most demanding of the two. Sure due to the pi's in order arm processor not slicing that time up would help. But many of these emulators don'...

Re: 2 Pis running in parallel?

The software would require a rewrite and there would be a latency hit. This question gets asked every now and then and I think there isn't a reasonable solution. Even if someone managed to make this happen scaling would be far less than double. Syncing two pi over ehernet or usb would not work great...

Did you install the joystick package?

The last I checked you still have to add the Bios folder manually with RetroPie. It's listed in the guide above.

I can lay this out a tad better for you but it may not happen for a few days. Have to do some family stuff tonight and tomorrow.

Re: Orange Pi Development Boards

The a31has a power VR sgx 544. I think. The sata port peaks my interest but I would have to see some numbers before I put down for one. According to Wikipedia, the chip be used in this device, the A31s, is rather less capable with regards to GPU than the A31. Got to watch the fine print. The table ...
