Re: Firefox security hole in 68.3

From my experience that indicates that the repo you are drawing from is in the process of being updated from the "master" repo and it only has some of the updated packages. Usually if you wait a few hours it will have all the packages. While I do prefer Firefox as well, so far it has not contained ...

Re: Firefox security hole in 68.3

I'd like to dump Chromium and have always used FireFox on my PCs only. Is it tricky for a Pi nOOb like me to get FF working on Raspbian? I just did an update last night and that went well other than VLC not getting it's upgrade. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The follow...

That old adage rings true more often than not.

You get what you pay for.

Glad it finally worked out for you.

Re: NO DISPLAY : Raspberry Pi 4

I'm only 2 days old with Pi but had the same problem with a 21" LED monitor. I left the vga plug in while connecting the Pi with the HDML thru a dongle to a DVI socket on the monitor. Tried booting the Pi 3 or 4 times and not a flicker from the monitor. Reached around the back to pull the vga plug a...

Re: What was your first computer?

Managed to get my system onto the 128G SD @procount . Found a little program to do the FAT32 format on my Win7 PC. http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm Did the copy with SD Card Copier that took ages then powered off, swapped out the 64G and she booted up perfect. Thank...

Re: What was your first computer?

New questions and you have only yourself to blame. :D I've followed a few links to GitHub but really have no clue how to use what I find. Must I join to download from there? Seems I don't. I'm used to using zip, rar etc types of files on the PC platform but unzipping zips on the Linux platform and m...

Re: Installing Arduino IDE om Raspberry Pi

Does this mean that the Pi and Arduino units can talk to each other?

Just got my first Pi 2 days ago and today ordered an Arduino kit on the advice of the buddy who started this whole thing with me.

What have I done! Looks to be fun!

Re: What was your first computer?

Again thank you for your help. A friend on an unrelated forum was the one who put this Pi bug in my ear talking about the things he's been doing with them and and Arduino unit he says has lots more interesting things to do with so I may be getting one of those too. Seems there are more opportunities...

Re: What was your first computer?

Do they make FireFox for the Pi? Hate Chrome and all the Google bs. Welcome to the forums! As well as raspberry pie I understand eating plenty of Camembert cheese also helps to avoid Alzheimer's disease. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6073537/ I think the Chromium version of Chrome wh...

Re: Pi 4B (x2) no video output

Total nOOb here but I had problems getting video working on the Pi 4B I just picked up yesterday. Turned out to be dead simple. I'm using a 21" LG monitor that only has DVI and VGA connections. The VGA is connected to my old XP Pro desktop and I used an adaptor like HawaiianPi pictured above to conn...

Re: Remote Connection from Pi to PC

Got my very first Pi this afternoon and using it here now.

Was wondering how best to link to my Windoze box and there it is!

Guess I'll need to install a wifi card into my PC now? I have a few laying around so no biggy if I do.

Great post @fruitoftheloom! Thanks

Re: What was your first computer?

My first was an Atari console unit with game cartridges I bought used to play games with my 5 yo son. Later bought a used 5 1/4 disk drive for it with a bunch of programs and games on them. That was around 1985. Two years later went back to school for chemistry at age 33 and got a Commodore PC 10-II...

Re: Pi 4b Not Booting

I just picked up my first Pi 4 4gig with a 64gig pre-loaded SD today. Installed the heat sinks and got it in the case. Used a dongle to connect the HDMI to the DVI on the monitor and got a blank screen. Turned out I had left the VGA from a rarely used computer connected and once I removed it the scr...
