Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

I can find no evidence that any changes have been made to either version 80 or version 83 they appear to be both supplied directly from the Debian repositories and not the Raspbian ones. Also when I run sudo apt list chromium Listing... Done chromium/stable 83.0.4103.116-1~deb10u1 arm64 [upgradable...

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

Yes. Had the same issue this morning. Will need to roll back the update since Chromium 83 can't even load Gmail without crashing out ( after a few minutes of failing to load ). I was unable to find a method of rolling the update back, let me know if you succeed and what commands you used. I hope so...

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

Just ran a sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade which updated chromium from ver 80 to ver 83 It is now so slow as to be unusable. Check chrome://gpu and still shows accelerated but webgl aquarium test has dropped from 20-23 frames to just 10-13 frames. Disabled all extensions no change, cleared cach...

Re: Updated 64-bit Gentoo Image for RPi3 Released (now also for RPi3B+ and RPi4B)

I'm not sure if it's something I've done but of late, Chromium dies on a regular basis ( Window closes without warning ) , no video can be played within Chromium and Firefox is ridiculously slow. The Pi4/Gentoo/USB3 connected NVMe used to be good for casual surfing but it's becoming too frustrating...

Re: UPS Server on Raspberry 3/4

If you go the APC route, you can run apcupsd on Linux and Windows boxes. It can be configured in master/slave modes too which should give you what you want and removes you from the Windows only limits of the APC proprietary software. Details here: http://www.apcupsd.org/ I've been using apcsupsd for...

Getting random eth0 mac addresses on each reboot

The pi4 is running gentoo via Sakaki's build. Running 1.5.3 of her build. I need to have the pi get a static IP address via dhcp but I've found that the mac address of eth0 is random on each boot. I've added smsc95xx.macaddr=DC:A6:32:XX:YY;ZZ to cmdline.txt but this has no effect. Any ideas? Posting...

Re: Updated 64-bit Gentoo Image for RPi3 Released (now also for RPi3B+ and RPi4B)

DPMs challenges continue.... With the Raspian kernel and dtbs copied over to /boot, the machine boots but still no joy on the xset dpms force off. Incidentally, vcgencmd display_power on/off works fine. with the dtbs copied over and all *.elf files copied, the machine failed to boot, stopping at [0....

Re: Updated 64-bit Gentoo Image for RPi3 Released (now also for RPi3B+ and RPi4B)

Here's the background for most of what you asked for. Raspian: Clean image: 4.19.75-v7l+ With/Without hdmi_blanking=1, xset dpms force off doesn’t kill back light Update to 4.19.93-v7l+ Xset dpms force off works fine regardless of setting of hdmi_blanking - i.e. the backlight goes off Set kernel to ...

Re: Updated 64-bit Gentoo Image for RPi3 Released (now also for RPi3B+ and RPi4B)

I removed that autostart and also unmerged the package too. There's no difference. Doing an xset dpms force off only blanks the screen too ( regardless of the setting of hdmi_blanking in /boot/config.txt ). I'll boot a raspian image today and see if there's something off with the firmware. UPDATE: W...

Re: Updated 64-bit Gentoo Image for RPi3 Released (now also for RPi3B+ and RPi4B)

Hi, Great work on the Gentoo image! In keeping with earlier releases of Raspian, I'm struggling with dpms on my monitor. I've got hdmi_blanking=1 in the config file, dpms is enabled according to xset and I've got the appropriate settings in ~/.xscreensaver. When the screensaver kicks in ( or I run x...
