Re: Sound / Music Distortion in Morrowwind?

THANK YOU, BFREADY! I'd been installing a slew of new games to test configurations for a little one, and apparently pulseaudio snuck its way in, and reducing the audio on Mineccraft to a horrid mess! It took more research than I'd like to admit, but your post made the lightbulb come on. Again, thank...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

CactiChameleon9 , I noticed this:

Code: Select all

LWJGL: 2.9.4
In your system dump. The latest LWJGL libraries are 3.2.3

You may be working, but I think you may have missed a step somewhere.

Re: How do I create game for the Raspberry Pi?

I think there may be some foundational concepts/misunderstandings at play. Let me see I if I can help clear them up quickly for you. The Pi4 SBC (the board) provides the computing capability and nothing else. The Micro card is essentially (as another poster mentioned) analogous to a hard drive (or p...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

I've never used Forge. What is the advantage? I already get sound on the RPi4's running any version of MJE with just OptiFine. Forge essentially allows for the running of user developed content (I.e. mods). If all you're looking for is the vanilla experience, don't sweat it. You aren't missing much...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

Salawat, it's all useful info, keep up the good work. I liked Merekkon5's installer - it may have some useful stuff. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=245947 I hope so. It's that time again though. UPDATE! I've figured out the sound/asset mystery. So apparently the launcher has yet...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

Bonus update: Did some more digging on the Forge sound issue, and I'm starting to understand the asset management better. As I mentioned in a previous Wall of Text, the assets folder is generally where raw data is stored in games. In this case, that's exactly the stuff I want to get this darn thing ...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

Update: Just took a look at the Forge install process, and I can already see where some of the weirdness people have been talking about (no sound on the Pi) may be coming from, since the default installer is trying to use the LWJGL libraries downloaded by the Minecraft client originally, which are t...

The long version: Okay folks, bit of a long post for posterity, and to enlighten the curious or otherwise desperate. Be warned. Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

Hey folks, Here's the short version of what needs updating. I've included my staging script for getting the lwjgl natives and jars set up in the homedirectory, and an example drop in replacement for the value of the classpath argument in the run script. Afterword is a wall of text I figured I'd thro...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

Update folks. In a fit of Sudafed fueled madness, I sat down and said to myself, "Ya know, I never did test my base invariants." To which I responded "And what would those be?" "Like the whole 64 bit thing. That the bundled jemalloc native library actually works. That the 32 bit natives don't work w...

Re: Does this exist: HDMI Flashing Filter Device?

. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks Not sure if you're still looking for input on this, but I'm happy to provide some cycles analyzing the problem space. So you want a screen flash filter. That actually consists of several sub-problems. A) Flash detection B)Flash rectification For the flash de...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

I found an error in the original script thanks to sissyneck's feedback. It was trying to unarchive "211" instead of "8u211" for the Java archive. It was causing a headache and early exit in the script. It's fixed now, though I doubt this has anything to do with your digging, but I figured I'd pass ...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

Oof. Well. That was a day. So, highlights: Mucked around nipping stuff from the classpath. For example, you don't need the .so files on the classpath if you have the -Djava-library-path set to the folder containing them. Also, any arm64 related stuff can get dropped too, since the jdk you'd most lik...

Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.2 on Pi3 or Pi4

Howdy folks. Just wanted to raise awareness that 1.14.4 has been gotten working with a relatively painless setup script as detailed in this thread https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=260357 on the Pi4. No 64bit shenanigans seem required, and I'm in the process of trying to chase ...

This is exactly the feedback I was looking for. Thanks. Updating it now as I type this. Should be fixed in a few minutes. Sorry, was going cross-eyed looking at the script while trying to reconfigure everything. Also, I got to doing a little digging on the instability and periodic crashes. It seems...

Re: Minecraft 1.14.4 on Raspbian Buster and RPi4

Sorry for the double-post. Forgot that forums don't tend to update thread readers on post edits and wanted to make sure to get in feedback from the QA side of my brain. A) in the setup script, The wget of the jdk is for 211, but the tar extraction is for 221; change these for consistency B) In the r...

Re: Minecraft 1.14.4 on Raspbian Buster and RPi4

I originally tried with the Gentoo 64 bit OS. I just didn't find it as friendly for my boys, one of which is only 3 years old. So I went back to the Raspbian and used runholen's post. Then streamlined it and modified the scripts to do exactly as runholen suggested. It is all runholen's work, I just...

Re: Minecraft 1.14.4 on Raspbian Buster and RPi4

Well, I'll be. I was under the impression latest required a 64bit address space and was knee-deep in building a cross-compiler and the requisite libs for an openjdk8 build to install on my test 4B. I suppose that saves a bunch of work to get that running for the nephew++! May keep on building stuff ...
