I tried removing Auto, User and UID from the fstab line (as it was mounting via root, not through user PI) and the Pi4 didn't like that and went into emergency mode, so there's still some fine tuning to be done. The extended Samba Share install seemed to run without issues, so I'll attempt that vers...

Some suggestions: You don't need "auto,user" in your mount options. "auto" is part of "defaults" "user" allows normal (i.e. non-root) users to mount the device and the mounting non-root user to unmount it. Hi all!

I'm Matt, from Victoria, Australia, and recently picked up a Pi 4B to play around with, after my Asus laptop finally karked it.

I have a little bit of experience programming in C++ and Matlab, but look forward to learning some Linux and learning more about what I can do with my new project!
