Qt,you can run it without a desktop environment. C++ or QML as JavaScript like script language that is really easy to learn.

Re: Any tips for beginner project - Radio Alarm Clock

Hi, Been working on my project for a little while now. Pi3 with official touch screen, usb DAB dongle for digital radio. Was going to use a cheap set of usb powered speakers, the ones that power off usb but take the audio via the audio jack as this solves the amplifications and speaker requirements ...

Re: How does Ubuntu mate on a Pi 3 perform?

IMHO the Pi3 CPU is capable, but 1GB of RAM, I personally thing that's where the issues will be once the stability gets there (and it will people are working hard to get it stable).

Re: Android Remix OS

I have Remix OS running on my Pine64 (64bit ARM SoC) and it is a very usable OS. Remix adds keyboard and mouse and a more recognisable 'desktop' type experience.

The architecture's are not a million miles apart, but I suspect hardware video acceleration will be the difficulty ?

As far as and images, I’m using a 32 GB SD card that’s fully loaded ROMs. I’ll have a go at removing the ROMs and shrink the image to see if I can upload it.

Re: PiPlay and Adafruit screen

Hi, My apologies for not being very clear, when I say search the output, I meant look through the output text from the command ‘sudo dmesg’. You’re looking for the text listed here, or something very similar. [ 4.943251] fbtft: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have b...

Re: PiPlay and Adafruit screen

Hi, I have had the same problem in the past, so first up, does the screen actually work? When powered on the screen should turn white. If the screen does not turn white it’s a basic hardware problem, for me it was both my poor soldering and the ribbon cable that attached the screen to the Adafruit P...

Re: Camera module

Hi, I personally see the Camera driver as a must to be developed. I’ve been play with Windows IoT since release, and I must say I’m impressed. Look at how many projects have been spawned with the camera module under Linux. IMHO the Pi camera module driver would make Pi Windows IoT an incredible mult...

Hi, Just wanted to give you quick update about where I got to with my project, I’ll be posting some pictures shortly so you can see the progress I’ve made. It looks like the Petit Studios Raspberry Pi Camera Extension Cable could solve the issue with the ribbon cable being a little too short. I shou...

Well done, this looks like excellent progress. I'm not far behind you, I'm going to be using one of these for the screen https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-2-8-pitft-capacitive-touch/overview I'm using 40mm pipe which fits snugly over the scope end, with a 40mm pipe access cap which I'm going to mo...

Re: Using the IR Camera on an Air Rifle Gun Sight

Hi kcx, I’m glad I’m not alone on this project….. Focus length issues has been my biggest concern as well, but based on your comment about mounting with a plastic pipe this may well work. I also found this http://www.truetex.com/raspberrypi on camera lenses. I think if I use a black plastic pipe abo...

Using the IR Camera on an Air Rifle Gun Sight

Hi, Not sure if this is possible, but there are now a number of ‘night-scopes’ on the market for air rifles, that would at face value appear to be a normal scope with an IR camera on the end, feeding a small computer and video screen. The one on the link below actually adds an IR touch at the front ...

The 48 LED type devices would probably suit your purposes. I would buy a cheap one and experiment.

Hi, First up, my apologies if this has been asked before, but I could not find a post. Could you please let me know what IR lighting you are using with your Pi-Noir.
