Rufus 3.8 Persistence feature

TL;DR - you don't need this feature to enable persistence with RPD! Don't use the persistence slider, and when prompted, just burn with the DD method, not the iso method. Thanks to the RPD team for making it simple with DD. Hilarity ensues: I use whatever is handy for handing out the Debian RPD desk...

Re: Which programming system for my appllication?

That's a GREAT question, especially in regards to not wasting time. But I must step carefully ... One way to do it, is to use the built-in Unix facilities to grab and munch on your coffee roaster's data, and wrap it in say a Python gui, rather than trying to build an entire application all at once, ...

Re: Gray-Beard Appreciation

Heh, I'm sure it looks like many of us. :D Thing is, when I introduce young people to RPI's, or todays unix-like computers in general, I point out that good ideas stand the test of time - and they touch them daily without knowing it: Virtual terminals? (CTRL-ALT-F1 through CTRL-ALT-F7 typically) - s...

Gray-Beard Appreciation

Just a shout out to two of my favorite grey-beards - still young at heart and so personable it is like listening to a friend, even if you've never met! Professor David Brailsford of Nottingham University and Professor Brian Kernighan of Princeton University. Even at my own advanced age, I'd still ta...

Re: RPD on intel stick

You might want to try just running the latest RPD image live, and see how things go before trying a formal installation. All of my sticks have everything detected in Live mode. Then run lsmod or other utils to see what drivers are needed when you do a formal install. BUT ... My V2 (the windows 8.1 o...

Re: Booting Debian x86 from USB pls HELP

Hi Antonio - looks like something regarding acpi is giving you issues. At the boot prompt which shows you the many ways to boot the RPD desktop, hit "E" for edit to change the boot kernel paramaters. You'll want to manually edit the linux line, and perhaps add "acpi=off" (no quotes) and see if the s...

Re: STICKY: Introduce yourself!

Hi everyone - Brian here. Thought I'd say hello! I've had a few pi's over the years, along with using the RPD Debian X86 desktop on a few machines and love it. Time to show appreciation for them both by saying so finally in public. I'm mostly an end user that enjoys using them, even if I'm not the w...
