Try sshfs (here is some good information https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SSHFS) instead of samba.

Whether you're accessing MiniSub locally, from the google chrome app or from the subsonic server itself doesn't matter. Just point it to the subsonic server you want to use. The only time subsonic will output audio from the server itself is if you've created a player that uses Jukebox mode.

To access the minisub player use /mini after your desired url

In Subsonic 4.7 Minisub is included in the server package. Try using that one instead of installing it on the Pi

Subsonic can do it, but I haven't had any luck with getting the jukebox mode to work on the Pi. Which is the function you are looking for.
