Re: Autorun a program with root

Many ways... one simple way is to add to the /etc/rc.local file like: Add you command before the exit 0 that is at the bottom of the script.... # Added freeswitch /usr/local/freeswitch & # Original exit 0 at bottom of script exit 0 This will be run as root when the system boots up. Make sure that th...

The password is located in a file in your home directory. IF you delete it, you can set the password again.

Re: Wake from halt

Holidays were a blur... Finally got a chance to upgrade my test unit which is on a Adafruit Pi plate to a current kernel that has the new Halt code in it. I already had switches setup to test this with the pre-release before the code made it into the mainstream kernel. Works like a champ. Now using ...

It does clear the whole screen... but the omxplayer then outputs text before it starts the video. They key is to clear the screen and then add some echo's so that the start of the text is where the video will be when it starts.. then you have a completely black background while the video which doesn...

Re: how to boot RPI without mouse/keyboard

I have one of the USB Serial cables from Adafruit which I use to configure a new Pi from scratch when I need to. Works pretty good. One of my RPi is attached to an Adafruit Pi Platter which I used for playing with wiring, so I have access to the GPIO all the time there and can use the serial cable a...

Pretty sure that CIF-UTILS comes installed with Wheezy.... I don't recall every loading it ... I just mount my NAS shares with that. I don't always want them loaded, so I just use a script I call when I need them... something like: sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.35/network /media/network -o user=USE...

I've just learned of the Pi about 2 weeks ago and I've seen it mentioned a few times that RS makes them in China while Farnell makes most in the UK. I would like to get a UK made board so where should I order from? I've seen some for sale at Newark and MCM and I believe those are both Farnell compa...

Thank you I have seen that, but it does not say what the lights being on or not or flashing mean. What does it mean if the green ACT light is only on occasionally vs. all the time? The ACT light only blinks when the system is reading or writing to the disk. If it is not doing either, it is not lit.

Re: Wifi Reconnect on drop

Easiest would be to place it in /etc/rc.local

Before the exit 0 at the end of that file add:

Code: Select all

/home/network-monitor.sh &
Assuming it is located in /home... If not change the path to where it is located.

Re: StormCloud

Very cool. I'd be curious as to how much it cost to put this together and an idea of what parts you used. The board on the top looks like the Access point taken out of it's box.

I would have thought of using a clock board instead of the GPS, but you might be getting time via GPS via the 3G modem?
