Spam Free Wordpress

I almost posted a duplicate comment earlier on the home page and got this dialogue box popping up: Spam Free Wordpress disabled the comment form because it could not retrieve the password from the server. If you're the admin, check the Old Password Fields box which will allow the plugin to work, alt...

Re: joomla plugin to control gpios

You are allowing any POSTed data to be executed to the shell. This is a Very Bad Thing. Imagine what I could do with this HTML: <form method="post"><input name="Button" type="text"><input type="submit"></form> Other than that, nice idea. I don't know much about Joomla plugins to help you, but your H...

Re: RMA Problems with RS

Call them. They can't ignore that. Unfortunately reports from the forum are that they are refusing to handle anything related to orders through their Pi store by phone. I called a number of times about my order and the answer to every question was "use the email address, we don't deal with the Rasp...

Re: Help wanted

Have a look for anyone nearby on http://rastrack.co.uk who has a twitter account listed and tweet them directly?

I'm a bit far to just meet up (East Kilbride), but there looks to be plenty of Edinburgh folk on that map.

Re: RS refund timescale

Glad to hear you are taking this to Trading Standards. Please keep us all informed as to the progress/outcome of your complaint. Just to update this thread, last week my refund finally came through, a month and a half after requesting it, and over a week after my Pi actually arrived (a 256MB rev1)! ...

Main site comments link

Not a forum issue, but a website issue (please move if this would be better elsewhere). The comments link for each article takes you to a "#comments" anchor on the page that doesn't exist, meaning that you are taken to the top of the page and have to scroll through the blog post to get to the commen...

Re: RS refund timescale

Got an email from Parcelforce to say that something has been dispatched to me from RS. There were no further details than that, so I'm assuming it's my Pi. If it is, I'm not sure whether to just keep it or to return it as a matter of principle. There is no way this should happen (if it is the Pi tha...

RS refund timescale

Has anyone recently received a refund via PayPal from RS? I cancelled my order (121***) on the 2nd of September and have not received it yet. I've contacted them and hope for a quick resolution, but I was wondering if everyone has been waiting for a similar length of time or mine has just been misse...

Re: WiFi cuts out after a few hours

After trying out a powered USB hub and a new WiFi adapter (Belkin 54g), this is still happening. After being on for a few hours the WiFi stops working.

Has anyone any ideas? It's making hosting a headless web server very difficult!

Energy monitor

I've written a Raspberry Pi-based electricity usage monitor: http://c.cam108.me/energy The hardware is simple: A USB hub back-powering the Pi with a Belkin WiFi dongle in one of the ports, and a single phototransistor on the GPIO port pointed at the flashing LED on my meter. There are more graphs he...

I prefer this explanation for what the UK(oGBaNI) is: http://youtu.be/rNu8XDBSn10

Maybe you would prefer "Made in Pencoed, Bridgend, Wales, Great Britain, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Just Off The M4 J35", although it wouldn't fit on the silkscreen :P

I'm in East Kilbride, so I'd definitely be interested in a meetup in Glasgow of some sorts.

I probably wouldn't have much to contribute/show off but I would like to see what others are doing!

The odd card out here in the UK is the VISA Electron - normal credit/debit cards are interchangeable in terms of online/chip and pin and allow payment to be made before checking if the funds are available. This is an interesting suggestion - how well does it work? Does a paperclip take solder well?

CPC (part of the Farnell group) is advertising for next day delivery again, whereas RS is pushing back deliveries another month or so.

It looks like Farnell et al have pretty much cleared their backlog but RS are struggling.

Ok it turns out it wasn't fixed after all. After about 12 hours use it cut out again, despite being connected to a powered hub. I think I can now rule out a power issue. I have dismantled the wifi dongle and noticed an antenna connector on the board, like those used in laptops, so I'll try plugging ...

Re: WiFi cuts out after a few hours

Last night I bought a powered hub which completely solved the issue. The Wifi has now been stable for 12 hours.

Also, the hub is back-powering the Pi through the USB A port. This is possible because of the shorted poly fuses. I'll post up a photo of the setup later.

WiFi cuts out after a few hours

I am using Raspbian (16th August) and a D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 (rev. C) Wi-Fi adapter, which is shown as working on the Wiki. When I was setting up the Pi next to my TV, I had no problems at all with the WiFi connection, but now that I have moved it into the cupboard where it will be living the W...
