Re: Advice for a single-output audio player to play concurrent files

Pi Presents can do this pipresents.wordpress.com

use a single run mediashow with an audio track for each sound. Start the shows remotely using OSC.

Uses mplayer under the bonnet.

Re: PiPResents Bluetooth Speaker

I have not tried this before but it looks possible. Use this to do the pairing: https://magpi.raspberrypi.org/articles/bluetooth-audio-raspberry-pi-3 Having done this ensure that both the PP Track and the Show have the audio device set to 'blank'. PP should then play through the device selected in t...

Re: PiPresents and Scripts

You do not need python scripts for this. You need 2 mediashows that start when PP starts Mediashow 1 is a repeating show playing the ambient sound continually Mediashow 2 is a repeating mediashow with a 'Trigger at Start' that is triggered by your input event. It plays the show sound and uses animat...

Re: Audio from 3.5mm jack after 2nd HDMI connected

The method of selecting audio device has changed recently https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/latest-raspberry-pi-os-update-may-2020/ The new alsa devices can be obtained from this code which I use for mplayer if self.mplayer_audio in ('hdmi','hdmi0'): driver_option=' -ao alsa:device=plughw=b1.0 ' elif...

Re: Comparing 2 images to see if there is motion.

Use opencv to comapre the two images and calculate the area of the difference blobs. There is a tutorial here which shows the image manipulation steps. https://www.pyimagesearch.com/2015/06/01/home-surveillance-and-motion-detection-with-the-raspberry-pi-python-and-opencv/ Lots of other articles on t...

Re: Multiple PI Presents instances

You should be able to do what you want from within one instance of Pi Presents. The equivalent of an instance of Pi Presents is a Show. Pi Presents can run more than one show at a time and/or get one show to run another. You need two liveshows, each taking its files from a directory specified in the...

If you do not want to do any python programming then look at Pi Presents.

PP is a toolkit so there will be quite a bit of confiuration to do.

I would recommend pipresents-beep which better supports the touchscreen

Re: ASUS VT168H Touchscreen monitor rotation

Ypu should not have needed to install arandr, just use the Screen Configuration menu option in the Raspbian menu If you want to do it from the command line use xrandr command To rotate the touch use the xinput command. There are several posts on the forum linked to articles on how to do it. Please r...

Pi Presents Gapless will do it with no programming

Use a mediashow with audio tracks and the start/next trigger sourced from gpio. pp_exhibit_1p3 example is a good starting point IIRC

You have missed python e.g

Exec=python3 /home/pi/pipresents/pp_web_editor.py -l

this runs the python interpreter with your .py file as input to it

Use the driver name given by xinput list, each monitor has its own driver

You might need to add the trailing spaces to the device name

You could try some better editors. These have better support for line ending modes and conversion thereof

notepad++ can be downloaded free for a PC

Re: PiPresents: Update background image while scrolling menu?

Displaying background images while scroling a menu is not possible with PP. It would be possible to modify pp_menushow.py and pp_menuplayer.py to do it but I would not recommend it for 2 reasons: a. scrolling would be slower, maybe acceptable, maybe not b. Finding a text colour that would show well ...

Re: PiPresents drops to Desktop when video is selected. How to prevent?

Sounds like you are not using the -f command line option to make PP full screen Ken, I have now done this so it runs full screen and disabled blanking and everything works perfectly except while my video screensaver is running and i select a video, it drops out to the image background for about a h...
