Re: Opening Webmin

When opening Webmin (running on a local site on my Raspberry Pi) from my browser (Mozilla Firefox on a Windows 10 computer) I get following warning message (see attachment); Warning Potential Security Risk Ahaed.png Hitting the "Accept the Risk and Continue" button I can Proceed. Qbittorrent-NoX Help

Hi,

I've recently installed qbittorrent-nox, because I installed a light version of Raspbian Buster. I set up a user and password for the WebUI, but I've forgotten it.

Is there anyway to retrieve the password? And if not, how do I go about uninstalling Qbittorrent-NoX to then re-install it again.

Re: Problem with streaming from External HDD

You’re not streaming apparently, you fetch files over the network and they are processed client-side. There are multiple reasons why stuttering would happen, but if the behavior is the same on every client, perhaps samba can benefit from a bit of tuning on the server-side? Perhaps you're right. How...

Re: Problem with streaming from External HDD

I too have a NAS based on RPi2Bv1.2, its numerous evolution stage posted several times in the forum. currently it has a EXT4 formatted 4TB HDD as data drive, shared to the network via samba. Still running on Raspbian Stretch Lite. Ethernet LAN connection to network. not using OMV (or ever will) On ...

Re: Problem with streaming from External HDD

For starters RPi2B+ does not exist! It never did! (and probably never will) Please check your board again by looking at white markings on the board itself. Next, how is the RPi board connected to the network? via Ethernet LAN? WiFi? Next, how are you "streaming" your media to your TV/PC? via DLNA? ...

Problem with streaming from External HDD

I have some media that I'd like to stream from an External HDD that I have connected to my RPi 2B+ via USB. I've tried playing them on my TV and my PC, but when I do, they stop, as if they were buffering. I understand that the videos may take some time, but music? Those are smaller files. Is there a...

Re: Samba Access Failing After Initial (ie never worked)

I had that same problem.

You need to change the access attributes on the Media folder to 0755. That will allow read and possible write access to any folders underneath it.

Kodi v18 does not see SMB share on Raspberry Pi

Hi. I'm attempting to use Kodi V18 on a Fire TV. Whenever I try to add my SMB shared folders as a source, it does not see them. VLC sees them and I'm able to access them on my Windows PC. Is there a particular reason why? Also, is there a way I can better the transfer speed? Whenever I play videos o...

Re: Samba Share requires authentication/not accessible.

Hi Sorry for the late reply. I got those logs from the sys.log. Yesterday, I had some sort of epiphany. I created another folder and managed to share it via Samba. However, I copied a file from the external HDD and when I tried to play it, it asked me for login credentials. I changed the permissions...

Re: Samba Share requires authentication/not accessible.

Posting 'it doesn't work' isn't helpful, what error message are you getting ???? If you are mounting a USB HD and it will always be on, then you should mount it in fstab in the same way as if it was a PC HD i.e. by UUID etc You should then be able to share this easily. Here's what I got from the lo...

Re: Samba Share requires authentication/not accessible.

I trust that you do know more about Samba than I do. However, the fact that I've been able to set up 4 folders in the same server and that only two of the 4 I've set up work, tells me there's just a little bit more than what I set up in the config. The two folders that have not work are within an Ex...

Re: Samba Share requires authentication/not accessible.

I figured out that my config is fine. My issue is with some permissions issue with the external hard drive.

I don't know how to get rid of this restrictive permissions.

This thread can be closed, I'll open a new one for the permissions issue I found.

Re: Samba Share requires authentication/not accessible.

Sorry for the late reply.

I had to compare what I had vs what your conf suggested and when I applied the changes, I rebooted the server and it failed to start samba.

I quickly restored everything to the original config.

What else can I do?

Re: Samba Share requires authentication/not accessible.

Can you post your smb.conf (preferably with any lines that start with '#' or ';' removed) # # Sample configuration file for the Samba suite for Debian GNU/Linux. # # # This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the # smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed ...

Samba Share requires authentication/not accessible.

Hi everyone. I'm looking for help with this issue. I have a 2TB SATA HDD in an SATA USB 3.0 enclosure. I've mostly used it on my laptop. Since my laptop was always on, I used it as a shared folder so that I can stream videos on the TV. But lately, I had the idea of connecting it to the RPi (I have a...

Uninstalling Serviio from RPi 2B

I installed Serviio on my RPi 2B about a year ago, and everything is fine. However, I'd like to switch to Emby, because I think I'll be able to enable the remote media server so a couple of friends are able to access some videos that I have. Serviio was not included in a package, so I can't do apt-g...
