Re: HOT Raspberry Pi 4 - 4GB

+1 here for the FLIRC case as well, but I have also heard good things about the Argon Neo case. I haven't used one myself yet but will probably give one a punt with my next Pi 4. I always prefer passive cooling as I tend to fit and forget and many small fans (in particular) are not reliable enough f...

Re: pi zero w in quantities of 10...50

I don't want the header pre-installed I'm intrigued - what is your use case that makes the presence of the pins an issue? Here's one, the Retroflag GPi (Gameboy style handheld) case. This uses sprung "pogo pins" to make contact with the Pi Zero. That was my most recent application however I have pu...

Re: Where have the PiZeros gone?

I would suggest that one drain on available stock has been the more widespread availability of the GameBoy inspired RetroFlag GPi handheld case that uses Pi Zero's. They have been available for a while but usually on import only (how I got mine), but several UK stockists now exist which has probably...

Re: Mobile gaming on retropie

Without trying it and completely off the top of my head, I would suggest that the RetroPie image is as lean as possible and VNC simply isn't installed / enabled as this is not how most people would be using it. I would be surprised if RetroPie had any desktop support at all but I could be wrong. I w...

Re: PiVPN monitor traffic

One word: STAFF. :D Actually, try loading the resulting log into something like Notepad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org ... one of the nice features here is if you select some text it immediately shows you all of the other instances in the file - so say you have one user of interest you only have to...

Re: PiVPN monitor traffic

I am not familiar with PiVPN but it seems to be a fork of OpenVPN in which case the available commands are probably the same as for OpenVPN. Quickly Googling it reveals that you might find adding: --client-disconnect to your config file does the trick. As I say, I am not familiar with this but perha...

Re: PiVPN monitor traffic

It sounds like your users need protection from you... why are you interested in the contents of their VPN traffic ? Please remember that commercial VPN providers make a big thing of NOT keeping logs. If you are providing a VPN for someone they will expect a service free from someone snooping on them...

Re: NAS Server & RetroPie

There isn't any formal support for RetroPie on the Pi 4 just yet. You may have some luck in getting it to work using one of the online tutorials but at the moment the performance (reliability) seems to be a bit hit or miss depending a great deal on what system(s) you are trying to emulate. I doubt m...

Re: SQLite database on SSD?

Overprovisioning on an SSD is still probably a good idea too, this is where you deliberately leave a percentage of the drive unpartitioned so that the SSD controller always has a pool of spare cells available to it to improve overall write performance and wear levelling. Most (if not all) modern dri...

Re: SD card corruption

Apologies if this is stating the obvious, but have you ruled out a flaky PSU and / or a dodgy microSD card ? In my experience for what it is worth the power supply is the most likely culprit with random corruption followed by someone using a cheap no-name (or outright counterfeit) microSD card. Eith...

Re: Swapping a micro SD card between 3B+ and zero w

Another potential gotcha that I can think of is that the mode of operation with regards to the activity LED on the Zero is reversed to that of the other Pi's. If you are messing with onboard LED's then this is something to be aware of (most people probably don't, but if your application requires the...
