Matterials to set off a project

So. I am considering making a Pi-powered laptop. I have decided on a screen, but am unsure on how to power it. I am thinking Li-Ion batteries and a regulator, but would that allow me to charge the battery? While in use? Then there is the problem of the keyboard. I could go for mechanical switches, b...

Re: Raspberry pi + Ipad

I am considering the following configuration. Pi as a server, hosting a couple of movies I have backed up, connected to a port-forwarded router and coupled with something like no-ip. Then the iPad will just be able to access the hosted files when I can be online and I'll be able to pass my time in t...

Raspberry pi + Ipad

As the title suggests, I have a Pi and an iPad. I hoped to share a couple of videos from a USB to a network and connect via iPad to download them (not stream them; with the WiFi speed in my place, it wouldn't stop buffering). Do you have any suggestions of how to set the Pi up and what to use on the...

Pi Media Server with iPad

I was thinking of putting a hard drive on my Pi and share my media folder. I would be able to access the movies from the other family computers. But what about a tablet? What should I install on the Pi and what on my ipad so that I can access my movies and watch them?

Re: Wooden laptop for lasercutter+cnc

I know this is an old thread that I am trying to revive, but it was such a nice project to be left aside... I guess it has been discontinued? Pity! Is there any chance of continuation? I am sure I am not the only one thinking it is awesome having such a cute little gizmo... Maybe we could gather all...

Will Raspberry Pi do the job? Plus Bonus Questions

I play minecraft. And I love the raspberry Pi. Such a neat little gadget! I was thinking of turning the Raspberry Pi into a Minecraft Server. I found MCServer, a C++ minecraft server which apparently only uses about a fraction of the official server's resources :D . Ideally I will have the server op...

Script Behaves Differently

I have made a python scirpt, using the ncurses and the system libraries, which whenever I pressed... e for example (just the button, nothing else like ENTER), it would play an mp3 file (like this: system.os('sudo mpg321 sound.mp3')) and I made it run at startup. And it WORKED. Actually, not excactly...

Re: Starter's question 'bout Keyboard (etc)

Heeeeeelp
I made a python file (scriptA.py) which uses a curses thingy and some os.system. By doing python /home/pi/Desktop/scriptA.py it works and lets me press buttons to issue commands. How do I make it run on startup?

Re: Starter's question 'bout Keyboard (etc)

Thank you all. Firstly, I have decided not to use ssh because I would need more hardware and it would be irritating/impractical to write full commands. Secondly, I Could use only the raspberry pi for the project, but while searching, I found a really nice arduino library that would let me control so...

Starter's question 'bout Keyboard (etc)

I am making a project where an arduino controls a scoreboard, while being connected to Raspberry Pi, which over USB sends 5 different commands to the arduino, playing a sound from analog audio jack depending on certain keys being pressed. My main need is to be able to control the Raspberry pi remote...

Re: Working full screen LWJGL

This isn't intended to interface with Minecraft it opens up full screen capabilities for LWJGL on the Pi. by malakai Really, I was thinking of trying to use LWJGL with Minecraft PC edition on Raspberry Pi (even though there will soon be an official PI edition), so I would be grateful to be informed...

Alas, the forums need more edit button! A few hundred chunks later and I managed to connect... it spawned me in the middle of the ocean which was puzzling, but I swam to the shore and grabbed a screenie along with my SSH session with the running MC Server. Note the 1-3 seconds between chunk generat...
