I am using a flirc case - no fan, all fine.
Aluminum blocks EMF. How does the Wifi signal get out? I assume at least one side must be plastic.

Official Rpi4 case needs a fan

Hi folks, I'm shopping for a case for the Rpi4 and a consistent theme keeps coming up: The official case leads to a great deal of overheating. So given that this is widely believed and appears to be true based on the evidence, why doesn't the Rpi foundation simply create a similar white-and-red case...

Re: Updated 64-bit Gentoo Image for RPi3 Released (now also for RPi3B+ and RPi4B)

I've just posted a v1.5.1 bugfix release of my bootable 64-bit Gentoo image for the RPi4 B / RPi3 B & B+ on GitHub ( here , includes full download instructions). Hi Sakaki, is this a fully 64-bit Gentoo? I seem to recall a while ago there was a mixed 64- and 32-bit OS, where the 32-bit parts were r...

It is possible to install luks on a Raspberry, but there's no permanent BIOS NVRAM in which to store a key.
I'm OK with entering the password at boot-up if the bootloader supports that.

Re: Update for Rpi Zero W?

Dual core would be a stretch, and quad-core is probably right out. Maybe a big-little arrangement would be a good idea then, where the little core is slower than the current one and uses less power, but the big one is much faster and can be suspended most of the time. But I do think more RAM would ...

Encrypted drives

Hi all,
Debian supports encrypted file systems such as the root file system but does Raspbian include that functionality?
What about encrypted thumb drives?
Thanks.

Re: Update for Rpi Zero W?

To be fair to the OP, upgrading the Pi0/Pi0W is what quite a few people would like to see. The roadblocks to doing so have been explained. The arbitrary price goal of $10 for a Zero W is an obsession that most buyers don't share. When someone orders a Pi they are also buying accessories with it, su...

I don't expect dramatic changes in this scenario, ever....
Perhaps then some other interesting improvement can be made, such as one of these:
- An RTC backed by a Lithium battery
- A flash memory chip
- A temperature sensor
- A tiny power button
- A DAC for better audio.

Pi4: Are HATs practical anymore?

With the overheating issues, it is practical any longer to cover the Pi 4 with another board that prevents airflow? If not, what is the long-term solution? Will a side-mounted fan become available to push air across the Pi rather than up and away? Should people who have HATs simply underclock the CP...

Update for Rpi Zero W?

It seems that it has been two years already since the Rpi Zero W was released.
How time flies.
Is there any word on when it will be updated?
If so what will change?
Will the RAM be upgraded to 1GB?
Will another USB OTG be added?
