I notice you dont use Sudo in you posts of the commands to get this running.

Do you recomend logging in as root or using the default PI account ?

On installs like this with many config changes I can't be bothered to continually add sudo to the commands...just my preference.

Re: Cacti Pi

Fresh Install - raspbian 1216, followed instructions... installed OK (I guess) and everything seems to be working... but no graphs... ever. Any ideas? Hey pwillard, Please check the cacti log (Console > System Utilities > Cacti log) and advise if the log is in your local time...you may be graphing ...

Re: Cacti Pi

Nice, Now that my new job is calming down I am going to look into posting some Pi specific graph templates and some Cacti Plugins. That would be awesome! I've found a few myself, but it would be great to get some tips from somebody who really knows Cacti. By the way, any idea why there are no spike...

Re: Cacti Pi

If you like, I can post some graphs soon, let's give it a day or two, for now there's little data. Installing munin would be considerably easier than Cacti's install if it wasn't for your tutorial. With your tutorial it's about the same difficulty. I promise I'm not paying Un4Seen, guys! LOL Thanks...

Re: Cacti Pi

In the meantime I also gave munin a try as an alternative to cacti. Out of the box it draws considerably nicer graphs compared to the default cacti graphs, but munin is unusable on the RPI because it's very processor-intensive. Each of its polling cycles utilizes the CPU at 100% for about 2 minutes...

Re: Cacti Pi

Nah, It just takes a poll cycle for all the ducks to be in a row, as the poller has not run and created the rrds. When you first create your graphs, its a good idea to walk away for 10 min then come back. I know that can be hard as Cacti and snmp monitoring can be VERY exciting. :) Glad to hear you ...

what router do you have?

I assume you are asking about port-forwarding so you can access the ftp server from outside your home network?

NEW TUTORIAL UP!!!! We continue the optimization of Cacti Pi by replacing the cmd.php poller with the MUCH faster Spine poller! “Spine, formerly Cactid, is a poller for Cacti that primarily strives to be as fast as possible. For this reason it is written in native C, makes use of POSIX threads, and ...

Re: Cacti Pi

RPi_CPU_new.png ahhhhh much better!!! So to recap...if you are running cacti on RPi and you are monitoring itself...the CPU graphs will be inaccurate as an idea of average CPU utilization as you will be causing high use then polling. Instead I am monitoring the RPi from my Ubuntu server. Being that...

Re: Cacti Pi

ok... So here's the deal with that graph I've been trying to figure out. Cacti's poller, by default polls every 5 minutes. So in my case, due to the fact RPi was only polling itself, when that 5 minute mark came the CPU use was very busy processing the php activities, snmp polls of itself etc. Cacti...

Re: Cacti Pi

Figured it out using Top.

The Pi is polling itself thus everytime the 5 min poll comes up the Pi is busy. this graph is useless as it does not give a true representation of average cpu use.

Will post more on this tonight

Re: How to set up Raspberry Pi without monitor!

The first thing I did when I got my Pi was to create a statically assigned DHCP address for my Pi's MAC address. If you are running headless then I think this is essential. Alternatively - install Samba, give it a name and just use name instead of IP :) http://cymplecy.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/auto...

LOL so many ways to be geeky!!! I love it. Going to see if I can figure out the reserved IP by MAC addy on Cisco & Juniper CLI. Thats actually a great tip. @broo0se - what router do you use? How did you find the MAC before boot, is it printed on the board? (I didn't notice), if not there's no method...
