Re: Raspberry pi 1b headless install

Hello everyone, Thanks for the tips and suggestions. I have successfully got headless to work on the latest Buster Lite release. The problem was entirely me and it was quite the moronic mistake. I had my pi in a case and the case itself has two whole to mount onto a wall. Me being a genius, used two...

Raspberry pi 1b headless install

Does anyone know if headless setup (ssh file in boot) is supported on the old/original raspberry 1 model b? I tried it on Jessie Lite with Ethernet plugged in but it doesn't seem to be joining my network. The Pi seems to boot. I might have to try via keyboard and monitor but the whole point was to s...

Xbian and sharing

I just setup Xbian on my Pi and connected an external HD to it. I was wondering how would I share the drive over my network so that I can add stuff to it via my Windows desktop.

Raspberry Pi LAMP server

Hello,

I know pretty much how to setup a LAMP server for the pi, my question however is, how would I set up my web server onto a usb flash drive which I have mounted? I don't want any of the web server contents/activity to be on the SD card

Re: Struggling with SSH

For added security , disable root logins and use fail2ban. ghans To disable do I just edit the /etc/ssh/sshd_config and change PermitRootLogin to no Yes, but I fail to see how this helps anything if you are using keys - perhaps somebody can enlighten us? All you have to do to prevent root log...

Re: Struggling with SSH

Your homework assignment for this week is to set up ssh login using keys and then disable password login. Massive security enhancement. :) Also, just to note that you can have it listen on more than one port if you want to keep port 22 open for traffic within your local network. All it needs is a s...

Mineserver.be VS MC-Server

Figured it would be a better idea to make a new topic from: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=15431 Hello, okay so I did not run any resource tests on MC-Server because its glitched and crashes when you try to background it. But here is my review for both: Mineserver.be - Runs g...

Re: Which Minecraft Server for the Pi?

Hello, okay so I did not run any resource tests on MC-Server because its glitched and crashes when you try to background it. But here is my review for both: Mineserver.be - Runs great, works with the latest build, doesn't use a lot of resources on the Pi WHEN it is not generating chunks. Chunks does...

To change listen port edit etc/ssh/sshd_config

And you can only ssh into your pi from your router's EXTERNAL ip address from OUTSIDE your network.
How do I check what port it is listening on. Also I am an idiot lol, I should try this outside my network -_-

Struggling with SSH

I am running Rasbian and I have SSH all set-up. I can SSH into my pi locally fine. I am trying to get my RPi accessible globally, so I went ahead and did a portforward on the local ip to port 2222. Now if I want to ssh into my pi, I would use putty or any other tool to ssh into my routers ip using p...

Re: Minecraft

Why not use the C++ alternatives?

www.mineserver.be

or

http://www.mc-server.org/

Both have been written in C++, runs fine on my pi. Chunks do spike the pi, but its still highly playable.

I know this is a semi-hot topic. My question is,

MC-Server or Mineserver.be ?

Which one runs better on the Pi?

I have setup the mineserver.be server,

I was wondering how do I make the server globally available and not just local. Same goes for SSH, how would I make it global, do I need to install a VPN package?
