Re: accelerated 16-bit demosaic?

Update: I had a look at https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/memory.md describing memory configuration. I was indeed able to allocate more buffers by increasing the gpu_mem setting in config.txt. The maximum allowed is documented as 944 MB for pi models with 1 GB RAM or...

Re: accelerated 16-bit demosaic?

All very helpful information as always. If you do wind up finding the time to make those changes, I'll almost certainly need a pointer or two on the most efficient way to use them. If you want performance, then ensure that MMAL_PARAMETER_ZERO_COPY is enabled on the MMAL ports, and retain the buffer ...

accelerated 16-bit demosaic?

Hello, I've been modeling some code after raspiraw to grab raw 10-bit images from the v1 and v2 cameras. The rawcam MMAL component can unpack raw images to more easily-used 16-bit format, and I think the isp component can demosaic the Bayer image to 8-bit YUV, but is there a way to demosaic to a 16-...

Re: higher frame rates from v2 camera?

Following up with some rough calculations and observations. To achieve 60 fps in mode 4, we would require a line rate of at least 60*1232 lines per second, which amounts to a maximum of ~13.5 us per line, as compared with the current setting of 18.9 us per line. According to the datasheet I've seen,...

Re: higher frame rates from v2 camera?

Sorry, pll updates aren't something that cam realisitcally be merged into the firmware. Resetting pll settings on mode switches will cause issues whilst they resync, and those settings have been checked by Sony. I see, thanks. To clarify, is the objection more with having different pll settings acr...

Re: higher frame rates from v2 camera?

Quick update: I started by searching for any other imx219 driver source code I could find and studied the differences between their register sets and those of raspiraw. For the most part, they were identical. However, several of the other drivers differed in registers 0x0307 (PLL_VT_MPY) and 0x030d ...

Re: higher frame rates from v2 camera?

Great, thank you, those tools will be useful for analysis. Fortunately I'm up and running with raspiraw itself and I'm comfortable with building/using it and associated utilities. The main task ahead is better understanding the IMX219 timings and corresponding register settings.

Re: higher frame rates from v2 camera?

That offer of 6by9 is real I believe it. I've followed many forum posts from the two of you on related topics, you're doing fantastic work. I've started tinkering with raspiraw and studying the datasheets that I've been able to find for exactly this. My particular use case is likely to require the ...

higher frame rates from v2 camera?

Hello, I'm wondering whether it's possible to capture more quickly than 40 fps with 2x2 binning using the v2 camera. Since 15 fps can be achieved at full resolution, then if CSI2 bandwidth is the limiting factor, shouldn't 60 fps (4x speedup) be achievable at half resolution? My understanding is tha...

Re: Official V4L2 driver

I hadn't any plans to add analog and digital gain controls to the v4l2 driver, but it can be done by anyone. Pull requests are always welcome. Understood, thanks. Digging around a bit in the raspberry pi linux repo, it looks like a good place to start would be drivers/staging/vc04_services/bcm2835-...

Re: Official V4L2 driver

Thank you for all your work on this driver. The camera's analog and digital gains can be set indirectly via V4L2_CID_ISO_SENSITIVITY, but it looks like there are only a few discrete steps available. This does not, for instance, allow the v2 camera gain to be set to 1, since the lowest ISO of 100 is ...
