Time for me to backup my Pi3 B+ that runs pihole and pivpn. See you on the other side. Hopefully my python 2.7 apps should be the only issue.

I'm getting this across three RPi3's I have. Tried 'apt-get clean', 'dpkg --configure -a', 'apt-get -f install'. Still get this error, but with different packages on each RPi. I just use a HDMI to toslink converter. Also has HDMI passthru. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_2_10?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=hdmi+to+toslink&sprefix=hdmi+to+to%2Caps%2C200&crid=EX2F0O11PQUN RPi also powers these devices via HDMI, so no need for an external PSU. :D I u...

No idea. However I'm here as I've just found the RPi will power my HDMI passthru box which also splits Toslink optical and two line level out just fine.

Let's hope they haven't broken Bluetooth like they did with networking with all their customisations. Let's see if /etc/networking/interfaces works correctly in this update.

Re: Overclocking Raspberry Pi 3

It's not really worth overclocking unless you have a bulky heatsink or a fan with heatsink. Running at even 1350MHz, the CPU gets hot quickly and down-clocks, after 20 seconds to about 600MHz. Using the normal clock rate and voltages it takes a good few minutes to down-clock to sub 1GHz. Adding the ...

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

For all those running stress tests and measuring CPU speed, make sure you are running to get your speed: # vcgencmd measure_clock arm | sed -e "s/frequency(45)=//g" rather than; # cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq First one shows the actual CPU frequency, the other is what th...

I have just salvaged this from a Pentium 1 motherboard. I need some thermal tape before I can test: https://simonhowes.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/img_1224.jpg Before applying thermal tape, you need to cut one edge from the cooler, because the voltage smds are higher than the cpu, so the cooler is ...

3.5mm remote socket

Most of my hi-fi gear all have a 3.5mm remote socket, manufacturers from: Naim, Arcam, Denon, Sony, Pure.

Anyone know if it is possible to control these equipment using GPIO? I'm not sure of the specs when it comes to voltages, impedance etc, from a guess it is IR codes.

Interesting thread. I was wondering where ARMs are today in terms of speed. I usually say 10 years behind x86. ARM chips used to be faster than x86 in the 1990's! Thought I'd compile and run the primes. 2.3 GHz Core i7 Crystalwell (I7-4850HQ). Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,3 Processor Name: Intel C...
