What happens if you disable dash and reboot?

Sudo dpkg-reconfigure dash

I am looking for a way to scan for Bluetooth LE traffic without using root/sudo. (on my RPi3) Currently I need to write sudo hcitool lescan If I omit the sudo I get the error "Set scan parameters failed: Operation not permitted" I've tried adding the user to the various groups (in fact all the group...

Short answer, no.

Long answer not in any practical way. You could, but you wouldn't like the result.

Get a super cheap tablet, and It'd probably be a lot better and cheaper than any kind of touchscreen with hdmi.

I'm considering using my smartphone as front end, running MPD server on the Rpi, and wifi or Bluetooth to connect with an MPD client. Super simple for an audio only system. The bonus is no screen to tempt thieves.
