Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.9

I have now reinstalled Raspberry Pi OS using the Raspberry Pi imager. Then updated to the 5.9 kernel as described on the first post, but youtube still does not work with either fkms or kms driver. With kms driver I can get sound but no picture. With the fkms driver. Neither sounds nor picture :? at...

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.9

Not sure if this is of any use, but youtube does not work either fkms or kms driver :?: Worked for me. Maybe it is because I have Chromium (Media Edition) installed. Will try to remove it and see what happens :-) I have now reinstalled Raspberry Pi OS using the Raspberry Pi imager. Then updated to ...

Can you be more precise than "does not work"?
Yes. When a video starts to play the screen remains grey, the sound continues as normal. Occasionally the video turns a fluorescent green.

Re: Thermal differences between mutiple Pi 4B units

It looks like those graphs show a different initial temperature . Maybe the internal temperature sensors are calibrated a little bit differently? In other words: Instead of the CPUs running at different temperatures, is it possible that the thermometers are the source of the variance instead? Well ...

Re: Question: Is the firmware on the microSD card?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have a RPi 4B. Does that mean that I will not be able to run Raspbian on one microSD card and install Libreelec on a second microSD card and then exchange the SD cards depending on when I want to use Raspbian or Libreelec?

Question: Is the firmware on the microSD card?

There is something I have been wondering for some time. Is the firmware for the Raspberry Pi on the microSD card? The reason I ask is that when I read about firmware on Wiki, then it sounds like the firmware on a PC is on the motherboard. I have also heard of people flashing their BIOS so was wonder...

Thank You :-)

Since the summer, I have been using my Raspberry Pi 4B as my only computer at home. Yesterday it dawned on me that this might be the only product, electrical or otherwise, that performs better now than when I bought it :D So I just wanted to say thank you to all the people involved in making the Ras...

Just try it and see what happens. You cannot break it.
Excuse my ignorance, but why can it not be broken? :-)

Re: VLC player - Full screen doesn't show video

I think that Raspbian is fully updated. I recently ran the "sudo apt full-upgrade". How do I check?

Its a RPi 4B. The screen resolution is 1920x1080. I don't think it is something to do with the type of video because it happens with all videos I have tried.

VLC player - Full screen doesn't show video

I have minor problem with VLC player when it is playing a video in Raspbian. When I click on full screen the player maximises but the video does not appear. Just a black screen is displayed. The audio continues to run.

Has anyone else observed this? :D

Re: STICKY: Raspbian 'Buster' 2019-06-20 / 07-10

Thank you for the tip :)

But I am still curious about what the update might contain, is there anywhere one can see a change log? :geek:

Re: STICKY: Raspbian 'Buster' 2019-06-20 / 07-10

Recently I installed Raspbian "Buster" on an SD card for my R-Pi 4. Then ran the update using terminal and this improved the performance a lot!

So now I am wondering where can I read about any future updates being released so that I can update Raspbian at that point? :-D

Thanks in advance
