Re: Raspbian Buster - Need to get 3 IP addresses on eth0 from DHCP

Thank you for your reply. I am aware of how to add IPs. Problem is I need to host on the IP addresses the same port.

IP1:80
IP2:80
IP3:80

The app is not smart enough to handle this, but it can handle different interfaces with a bind.

That's why I am using VLANs and it has been working ok.

Frankly, no.
I think I read the readme and especially this and from there a version with DHCP in the container wasn't far.
I don't remember the details, it must have been easy.
Ok, thanks. Will look into it.

Re: raspbian and docker

manual macvlan creation + networking=none + pipework will work with DHCP. To assign IPs from the network you need the IP parameters but also to have some authority on it. Otherwise one day you might assign an address that is reserved to some special use, and the firewall will block or an alarm will...

Re: raspbian and docker

That won't work for me, I need to host services, that's why I needed DHCP. But if I can get the subnet mask and gateway I can assign IP address depending on the subnet mask and gateway. This is to host multiple instances of a service that use the same port, so I need the dockers to have their own IP...

Re: raspbian and docker

Thank you for your reply. I guess I am ok with not getting IP address from DHCP. What would help is somehow getting the existing local eth0 subnet mask and gateway differently so I can use it on any netowrk. Right now I am assuming it's .0/24 subnet and .1 gateway... I guess what I need is how to fi...

Re: Raspberry Pi OS to host dockers only.

boot2docker (Tiny Core Linux) is the smallest I know. @epoch1970 where can I get the boot2docker image for Raspberry Pi 3 B+? That wasn't good advice, sorry. I did not realise there was no build of boot2docker for ARM, only for Intel. That won't ever change since Docker has officially shelved boot2...

Re: Raspberry Pi OS to host dockers only.

For now I am only going to run 3 dockers to host 3 MCPE phantom proxies (allows XBOX users connect to hosted MCPE servers)
So I guess the one that provides the most performance.

Thanks!

Re: raspbian and docker

@epoch1970, I actually solved this already. Here is what I did: #!/bin/sh # Get IPv4 for Gateway, Subnet Mask and IP Addresses while [ -z "$ip4" ] do ip4="$(ip -o -4 addr list eth0 | awk '{print $4}' | cut -d. -f1,2,3)" done # Stop running containers docker kill alpine1 docker kill alpine2 docker ki...

Re: Raspbian Buster - Need to get 3 IP addresses on eth0 from DHCP

This was actually more simpler than I thought! On /etc/rc.local I added: # Create VLANs ip link add link eth0 name eth1 address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx type macvlan ip link add link eth0 name eth2 address yy:yy:yy:yy:yy:yy type macvlan And I now have eth0, eth1 and eth2 (3 separate interfaces with differe...

raspbian and docker

I am trying to run alpine docker and need to assign the local interface eth0.0 which is a macvlan to the docker, but getting error:

Code: Select all

docker: Error response from daemon: network eth0.0 not found.

How can I accomplish this?

Thanks!

Re: Raspbian Buster - Need to get 3 IP addresses on eth0 from DHCP

/etc/network/interfaces has effectively been dropped from Stretch and Buster unless you hack around removing dhcpcd and go back to network manager I think. Does it have to be from DHCP or could you set static IP addresses? If you can then try editing dhcpcd.conf: interface eth0 static ip_address=19...

Raspbian Buster - Need to get 3 IP addresses on eth0 from DHCP

I've search and found only one solution but it does not work on Raspbian. On /etc/network/interfaces I added this: # Primary interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp up ip link set dev eth0 promisc on # Macvlan interfaces auto vir1 iface vir1 inet dhcp pre-up ip link add link eth0 address 02:cd:ab:0...

What version of Android are they at now? Any video drivers? Maybe using Plex for Android once they get it working good might be an option?

Re: Best USB Gig-Ethernet adapter?

Ok, will try and report back. I asked because of previous experience with Windows version of XBMC at 100mb connection would not be enough for some 1080p videos I have. 720p work fine though.

Best USB Gig-Ethernet adapter? [obsolete]

Hi, which is the best Gig-E USB adapter to use with the PI? (I know the USB will probably cap out at less than 400mb (40mb/sec transfers) but that should be enough to watch full 1080p on the PI using XBMC... I have tried Wifi and I never got good speeds so I am now looking for an alternative (usb gi...
