Re: Updated 64-bit Gentoo Image for RPi3 Released (now also for RPi3B+ and RPi4B)

Hey Sakaki, You fixed it! The genup run went through today without a hitch. It updated the 18 left over updates with emtee. After a few more clean ups it all finished correctly. It’s good to know it won’t give anyone else any problems. Things have been fine here, we have been in lockdown for a few m...

Hi Sakaki, Hope you’re getting on ok with all the work from home and restrictions. I just ran a genup, and it came back with Emtee error caught signal. It was also saying a lot about dependency Required for kodi 19 alpha. and Libcdio 2.1 Thought maybe you would like to know. I will try it again, in ...

Hey sakaki, Got the new thundar set of updates. Everything Went smoothly and looks good. Now genup claims that python is being held back. I know we have a few versions in the build and available. Not sure why it would be held back, but I did read your posts about people having problems with differin...

Hey sakaki, When I do updates (genup) It keeps telling me that Thundar Is not being updated and held back As it’s dependency are not met. I’m just wondering if we are waiting On a dependency update from upstream Or there is a bug in the updates? I’m still updating my old installs from A long time ag...

Hey sakaki, So I did this weekends updates, quite big again 109 updates. One of the updates in the middle went very red For a page, but I didn’t quite catch what it was. The genup continued anyway, so if it’s an issue I guess it will try again next time. Everything was very smooth. Using a ssd now, ...

Hey, Just finished updating, everything is smooth. Looking forward to USB boot, when it comes out of beta. Just did some testing. YouTube is much smoother, no screen tearing or unwanted lines. Audio still takes a extra second to kick in, but seems fine. Great work Thanks sakaki and all contributors....

Hey sakaki So still running the first genup. It found the binary for 68.9.0 in an @world Session. But it still seems to be compiling from the binary. Seems a bit strange to me. Is taking a very long time, which is unexpected. Maybe take a note that it’s a bit of a strange binary. I’m sure it will wo...

Hey sakaki, I got another error during a genup. Mail-client thunderbird requires at least 8gb disk space at temp. That seems very large for a simple mail app. I’m only using a 32 gb sd for the image And my free space is down to 6.8 gb Do you have any recommendations or will Gentoo require more than ...

Hey sakaki, Ok I will tentatively use just sudo genup. As I ran the new update with the emaint genpi64. , it downloaded 30 more updates. But maybe you just got them to come through today. Usually I would update in the new week, as the weeks updates all seem through by Monday or Tuesday. I guess that...

Hey sakaki, Yes, that fixed it. Thanks. I guess it was my fault after all. I had been trying to use just sudo genup By itself as the update cycle had become so long. Previously I had been using the more lengthy sudo emaint sync —repo genpi64 && sudo emerge -v —oneshot—update rpi-64bit-meta && sudo g...

Emtee error: caught signal

Hey Sakaki, The last update for me was fairly large about 130 items. Early in the emerge of “ rpi4-firmwares “ failed and went red, Something like no folder b.lib. ( then it also opted out of the firmware updater update) But I didn’t write it down. After the 130. Down to 125 items updated. It listed...

My keyboard maps did not change back to UK Or my locale, but I have set up a new user. Maybe they revert if you use demouser as your user. I think my reverting had to do with the update of pyconfig, all the settings were defaulted with the update of pyconfig, thus my regdom was suggested to reset to...

Hey, I found something, with the new boot eeprom Firmwares. On my buster install, the temperature barely gets to 60 c it sits mostly around 55 c and no longer turns on the fan shim, and probably has no need for a fan much anymore. I ran 1080p video and still didn’t have temps reaching 65 to turn the...

Gazzy I would suggest his problem is the reg domain, reverting to 00 5ghz wifi is blacklisted, until your reg ...

Re: Small piwiz race condition (time sync)

I experienced the same error cycle, as I installed a new micro sd with buster. 10 July. As the problem, may be a time/server issue I’m not fully sure, as many setting, and updates are not yet complete, locale, zone, time ect. Including your local mirror. I also found when setting up the lrg install ...
