6 months with RPI4

So I got myself a RPI4 back in July, when it came out. It’s practically December and I still can’t use it the way I want to. Not entirely Raspberry’s fault, but it’s a fact. I want to make the Pi an ultimate retro gaming station. There was no working solution until Lakka made one in October. Or did ...

This I know. As I’ve written already - why not read? - I never got there. The installation halts way earlier.

Re: Can’t install Ubuntu on RPI 4

Thank you, but that is not the case. Any install just won’t complete, freezing at the same moment. So I didn’t even get to the USB thing, heh.

GOG/Steam on RPI4

Given the fact, that Ubuntu 19.10 doesn't at the moment support the 4GB version of RPI4, let me ask this: is there any way - including workarounds, magic and alchemy - to run GOG or Steam (I know that the architecture doesn't match, that why I've included magic in the lot) games on RPI4 4GB? I don't...

Re: Can’t install Ubuntu on RPI 4

Ok, I’m officially unable to install Ubuntu on my Raspberry Pi 4. ( ... ) Official 19.10 64-bit Server image. Exactly as above. The RPI4 is the 4GB version. Any help appreciated, I have nothing. The Ethernet is plugged in, the network is working. "Officially unable" seems a correct summar...

Can’t install Ubuntu on RPI 4

Ok, I’m officially unable to install Ubuntu on my Raspberry Pi 4. So far I tried 3 ways, all of them with a freshly FAT32 formatted SD card: 18.10 through Berryboot. I run Berryboot fine, download the Ubuntu Server image, reboot and the process is stuck within seconds on: cloud-init v. 19.1-1 etc, a...

Re: RPI 4 not booting after updating firmware

You were right. I deleted all partitions and created a new, FAT one. Works now.

Thank you!

Re: RPI 4 not booting after updating firmware

I’m back. So, I’ve flashed standalone Raspbian to a new SD card. It installed and updated fine, works after a reboot. So I tried to come back to the first card: formatted it, put a brand new Berryboot there. Again, it won’t even boot. I don’t get it. Is the card suddenly broken? It works fine on the...

Thanks. I have removed the card and yes, the Pi flashes green. I’ll follow your further instructions and then report back.

RPI 4 not booting after updating firmware

So, I’ve used Berryboot to install Raspbian. Then updated the software and firmware with: sudo apt update sudo apt full-upgrade The process has completed, I’ve rebooted. First, the RPI 4 told me that it can’t find the boot partition on the SD card. I took it out, reformatted it, put a new copy of Be...

Re: Pi 4 dual boot / help needed

I used Berryboot to install Ubuntu Server and it worked, but only so far. Apparently I can’t fetch any data, install or upgrade anything.

Any ideas?

Pi 4 dual boot / help needed

So, I’m setting up my RPI4. Here’s the setup I’m after:

(dual boot)
1. Lakka/Retroarch
2. Ubuntu 19.10 Server

I’m familiar with flashing an OS image onto an SD card, but still need some step by step guidance and some patience. I generally suck at technicals and especially at Linux :)

Care to help?

Pi 4: setting the audio chain

So, I'm getting ready to set my Pi 4 system and I want to do it right. At my disposal I have: - a RPi 4, - a TV, - a Samsung soundbar. The TV is working as a monitor, also a USB reader, the Pi as the source and the soundbar as the out. 1. Should I send the video to the TV via HDMI, and the audio to ...

Which Raspberry Pi4 OS?

Hi, so I've bought myself a Pi 4 a while ago and now I'm setting it up. No problems so far, but I need to choose the OS now. Which should I go with, given the fact I want to use the Pi for: - retro gaming (I know, the emulation implementation process is in progress), - playing music from an external...
