Interco 0.15

I’ve been experimenting with digital audio networking. I’m using Audioinjector’s stereo CODEC board for RPI with ALSA. I found a program “Intercom 0.15" by Shane Wegner written around 2004. It was written to allow voice communication point to point between RPIs. It is designed to use OSS. I found an...

OSS on RPI

I'm trying to get Intercom, written by Shame Wegner in the early 2000s working on the RPI.

It appears to require OSS (/dev/dsp). Does anyone know how to set up (or successfully fake) OSS on the PI?

Does anyone know Shane Wegner?

RPI audio board

There is a Kickstarter campaign for a new audio board for PI Zero and PI 2 and 3 at

http://www.audioinjector.net/rpi-zero

Support information is at

http://forum.audioinjector.net/viewforum.php?f=5

This board appears to be a successor to an earlier board.

/def/audio on Raspberry PI

I'm looking at a program listing GNU ccRTP-2.1.2\demo\audiotx.cpp which is looking for an input from either a .au file or from /dev/audio. This last seems to be from OSS audio (an earlier audio interface in Linux). The question is how to get ALSA to to provide audio input in place of /dev/audio. The...

Cirrus Logic Audio Card

It appears that the newer version of the Cirrus Logic Audio Card is out of production, perhaps for good. A company called MikroElectronika makes a board designated Audio Codec PROTO (Mikroe506) based on the WM8731. This might be a promising replacement. It appears to be 3.3 volt compatible. Are ther...

Raspian images and RPI boards

There is an archive of the various Raspian images at

http://ftp.jaist.ac.jp/pub/raspberrypi/raspbian/images/.

It would be extremely helpful to have a list that tells which Raspberry Pi boards for which each image is intended.

Any thoughts?

Cirrus Logic Audio Card

I just noticed that MCM indicates the Cirrus Logic Audio Card (the later version with the 40 pin interface connector) is no longer manufactured. There are a few available at Adafruit and on ebay. Does anyone know what Cirrus Logic's plans are going forward for an audio card for Raspberry PI? Synthcu...

RTP libraries

I recently came upon GNU ccRTP, with which I would like to experiment. The claim is it requires Common C++, so I was wondering what that was.

I could not find any RTP libraries on the 3.12.33+ distribution, so I was wondering how to apt-get them.

Failure to boot problem solved.

I had two RPIs that failed to boot today. It had been a few weeks since I last started them. All I saw was the red LED come on steady, no other activity, and no video display. I tried a couple of things, then tried a completely different SD card, and the boards worked! Thinking about it, I remembere...

Raspberry PI Audio Cards

Looking at the element14 Newark site, there appear to be two forms of Wolfson Audio cards--one has Newark Part number 07X2281 (only 51 in stock), and part number 41X2521, of which there are a couple of thousand in stock. Now the specifications for both cards as listed on the site say that they are o...

Re: Raspian 3.12 image and Wolfson audio card

I noticed that in Raspian 3.10.25+, in ALSA, card 0 is the Wolfson audio card, whereas in 3.12.33+ (I think this is Ragnar Jensen's version--if not, sorry), card 1 is the Wolfson audio card. When running files like "Listen_to_LineIn_on_Lineout.sh", they work in 3.10.25+, but not in 3.12.33+. I get a...

Raspian 3.18 download FAILURE

Today I tried downloading Raspian 3.18 2015-05-05 three times from https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/, and the download failed three times--twice at around 20 MB, the third time around 730MB.

What is going on with this? I remember having this problem earlier this year with 3.12 for a while.

Raspian 3.12 image and Wolfson audio card

I'm using a Model B with the original Wolfson audio card. I downloaded the 3.12 image and put it on an SD card. I've tried running various ".sh" files using arecord and aplay, but I get errors that tell me Linux can't find these commands. Is there something I have to do to the image to fix this? How...

Wolfson Audio Card and Raspian 3.12/3.18

What is going on with the Wolfson Audio Card (original version) and Raspian 3.12/3.18? I received information in an element14 post that the the drivers for the board have been up dated in 3.12 to include audio sample rates less than 32K. I tried downloading from the Raspberry PI download page, which...

ALSA

I've been trying to get a handle on how ALSA works, especially with the first Wolfson Audio card. Lots of Web searching hasn't turned up much in the way of a detailed explanation or tutorial, unless I'm just not entering the right stuff.

Any suggestions?

And frankly, one of the uses of these audio boards should be for SIP softphones, many of which use 8K PCM.

Re: New Audio Card for B+

I read the data also, and the way I understand it, the 32000 sample rate is specified for the SPDIF interface. I don't see anything specific for ALSA itself, which should be able to do PCM down to at least 8f000 samples/second.

New Audio Card for B+

The original Wolfson audio card for RPI B didn't support audio sample rates less than 44100. Does the new Cirrus audio card for RPI B+ support sample rates of 8000, 16000, 32000, 22050?

It looked interesting, so I took the "listing3" and "listing4" files and compiled them (gcc filename.c -lasound). I have a Wolfson...
