Re: Camera Support in Chromium

I must have some sort of setup problem then, Chromium seems to think I don't have a camera installed. I'm running a fully patched Raspberry Pi OS on a Pi 4 4GB. raspivid and raspistill command line camera utilities are working correctly.

Zoom Meeting with v2.1 camera

Just installed a Raspberry Pi v2.1 camera. Seems to be working correctly with the command line programs but it doesn't seem to work at all with Zoom Meeting via web page. Under Chromium it fails to detect the camera and with Firefox it just shows flashing screens of various colours. Any tips on what...

Re: rosegarden MIDI app needs RT kernel?

I have started using MusE instead of Rosegarden. No problems detected yet. I built the latest MusE 3.11 from github source. MusE seems a bit more "light weight" and more suitable for my purposes. Running on a 4GB Pi4 with USB SSD, standard clocks.

Re: Black screen when connected to bluetooth and playing youtube videos

I have a similar problem now, but only some Youtube videos trigger the problem. I've seen it happen on my other Pi 4 without bluetooth, using HDMI audio. This video is a sure system killer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDGL4T1vnxA

Re: Pi4B 4GB freezing

After reading through this thread https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=262649 I thought trying the over_voltage=1 in /boot/config.txt was worth trying. This seems to have done the trick. My question now is, did the 20200212 fixes correct the issue and is it now safe to remove the ...

Pi4B 4GB freezing

I regularly update my Pi4s with apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade and now one of them has started acting flakey. Both are similar configurations, noobs /boot on SD card with / on Samsung T5 USB SSD. The main symptom is it freezes at the the login screen after it has been idle for a number of hour...

Interesting topic. I had been naively assuming that fstrim would be happening automatically on SSDs. Should fstrim also enabled on SD cards?

Chromium Youtube Video Playback

I noticed there has been a recent batch of graphics related Raspbian patches. On my Pi4, Youtube video playback with Chromium seems to be much lower quality now, blocky with visible aliasing.. Has something happened? I know there are a lot of variables here, but something has definitely changed on m...

Re: Raspberry Pi Tablet Style Setup

I have a https://kano.me/store/us/products/computer-kit-touch modified with a 4GB Pi4B installed. I've added a larger capacity battery and a fan shim. It is one fat ass heavy tablet, but it is portable. I picked it up on a Amazon sale for half price.

Re: Shutdown Pi4 but network's yellow+green LED stay active, after today's firmware update?

HALT doesn't turn off the power supply outputs unless the bootloader is configured with WAKE_ON_GPIO=0 and POWER_OFF_ON_HALT=1 https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bcm2711_bootloader_config.md Power off on halt is a new feature on Pi4 which was enabled by default but some ...

rosegarden MIDI app needs RT kernel?

I've been playing around with music software on RPi 4B, rosegarden seems to be working OK for MIDI sequencing, but I noticed it has been displaying a warning about timer resolution and it suggests switching to a RT kernel. I assume they are talking about a kernel built with the rt-preempt option. Is...

Having HSP support seems like a pretty basic thing for a product (Pi4 / Raspbian Buster) with Bluetooth to support. Who is responsible for the packages that would provide HSP support?

PS3 Bluetooth Headset With Pi4?

Is it possible to get a Playstation 3 Bluetooth headset working with a Pi4B? I've seen some complicated guides on how to do Bluetooth audio on Pi3 with Stretch, but hopefully things have moved on from then and I just need to install a few packages.

I'd have a use for a 3B if it was available with 2GB or 4GB of RAM. It will never be, so I have to use a 4B in spite of heat and power issues.

Re: Hardware 3D for old SDL1.2 program

I am such a Pi n00b, turns out I needed dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d in /boot/config.txt to get Mesa to use the hardware driver. OpenFly is now running at 60fps on a simple FST project compared to 15fps with the software driver. It locks up after a while, I suspect it is leaking memory like a sieve but th...

Hardware 3D for old SDL1.2 program

Just for a laugh I compiled an old SDL1.2 program I used to work on (OpenFly Flight Sim Toolkit engine) on a Pi running Raspbian Buster. Needed little work to get it compiling and running (just a few changes due to compilers being a bit more fussy these days). It does run but it looks like it is usi...

Probably not that helpful but, I picked up a cheap power bank battery from Aldi. It works. 10000mAh wireless portable power bank UX URBANWORX model UX10000PBQi. It was only $30 Australian. It's rated at 3.1A 5V on the USB C output.

Re: Pi4 laptop or Tablet

Battery life 3h 57m under light load of web browsing and e-mail. The powerbank just switches off without warning, I didn't get a low voltage warning from the Pi first, not ideal. Are there any power saving features on the Pi4B I can make use of to extend battery life a bit? Maybe ditching the SSD an...
