RPi4 DDR eMMC SD Linux Patch

Phoronix posted some news relevant to RPi4 storage performance improvement in the kernel. Will there be any response from the Raspberry Pi Foundation or development considering this update? I'm still testing the RPi4 RasPiOS as my desktop and any performance improvements are welcome, especially stor...

Cannot see digital clock display

There does not appear to be a way to change the font color in the digital clock or weather. I cannot read the digital clock because it is BLACK. It needs to be WHITE to read the date/time. I followed the instructions to change both the menu bar and panel appearance fonts but it does not change anyth...

Re: Changing the Digital Clock Font Color in Rasbian

These instructions do not appear to match the solution or it does not work. Currently, my digital clock font color is black. When I follow these instructions, there is no Taskbar tab, only a Menu Bar tab. If I click on that tab, I get options to change Colour and Text Colour but when I change either...

Chromium upgrade notification request not supported

Yesterday, I installed a current version of Raspberry Pi OS (5/27/20) and finally have a version that successfully runs all apps I need. This morning, I opened the minimized Chromium window and an upgrade notification that I needed to reinstall the app appeared. After I clicked on the link in the no...

Rpi4B Bluetooth Headphones No Audio

After initially installing my Raspbian Buster system, I was able to configure my bluetooth headphones to work but they were not reliable when connecting and disconnecting. Now they will not play audio at all no matter how I use bluetoothctl or the bluetooth panel icon to switch to the headphones. I ...

Re: When will someone release a Raspberry Pi 4B UPS HAT with Battery Backup?

@mwrich4 Thanks for the suggestion. What I'm trying to configure is a mobile desktop device that can be detached from wall to roll the computer to another location, all battery powered. The problem I need to solve is the communication from the UPS HAT with battery capacity so my app can notify the u...

Re: When will someone release a Raspberry Pi 4B UPS HAT with Battery Backup?

I have tried or researched all recommended and/or available UPS HAT products today but none work for RPi4B that will support sufficient USB power for optional devices. Any suggestions welcome. Would be nice if Raspberry Pi Foundation would release a UPS HAT product, like the PoE HAT. Maybe work with...

Re: New Thunderbird SLOW startup

I went back to a backup copy of Arch Linux ARM 4.19 to see how well it works and there is no degradation during startup and the calendar works fine. So from my limited testing, it appears there is a bug in Raspbian Buster 4.19 that causes the delayed startup of Thunderbird, regardless of calendar. G...

Yes, same here without lightning enabled, long startup. I was able to generate a profile report that I hope helps find the problem.

I was told a while back that lightning is synchronous and that's what slows thunderbird from loading due to the calendar entries.

I too think they may be the same in that startup is 25% CPU utilization but mine stays like that and the UI is frozen but still takes input after a few minutes. I also think I got the profiler to work but am not sure if it sees thunderbird from the firefox addon. The other reason you may be experien...

Re: New Thunderbird SLOW startup

I too am having a horrible time with thunderbird locking up my RPi4B running Raspbian Buster 4.19. I have had to control F1 to reboot my computer. I reported this to the thunderbird team months ago and it has only gotten worse. Where can we get support for this app that I use on a daily basis on my ...

Mounting a network drive at boot

I have searched everywhere for how to connect a network drive during boot using Buster. I have tried all other kinds of combinations but they all fail for some vague reason or another. A...

When will someone release a Raspberry Pi 4B UPS HAT with Battery Backup?

I have found only one vendor, PiShop.us, with a reasonably priced UPS HAT with battery backup that works on a Raspberry Pi 4B. Now they're out of stock and no idea when they will restock. I can't find any other vendor with a high enough power supply. Anyone on this forum know anything more? I need t...

Arch Linux ARM on Raspberry Pi 4B - Desktop Configuration

I have been configuring Arch Linux ARM for RPi3 mobile devices for about a year now while my HP Windows 7 laptop slowly lost its screen and Wi-Fi hardware. Arch Linux ARM works great on Raspberry Pi models and especially now with the RPi4B using 4GB system RAM, it works great for a desktop PC. The o...
