Re: How to use RSP in company

,I also think rebooting OS/PC will be good solution not to face the instability. And some might feel that is an adaptation to an unsatisfactory situation, and not in any real sense a 'solution.' I see. Whatever system, I think it is worth trying to reboot as the last measure. Thanks for your commen...

Re: Is it possible to connect to "OCuLink SSD" on Raspberry Pi?

Does anyone know the reason why A1 is faster than A2 in Raspberry Pi? Which hardware(tip?) is required/implemented? A1 has higher performance due to better flash/better controllers so this better performance is available to all devices including the Raspberry Pi. A2 has higher performance due to pr...

Re: Is it possible to connect to "OCuLink SSD" on Raspberry Pi?

A2 cards require special hardware in the reader which the Pi doesn't have. Without this hardware and firmware, they are often slower than the A1 cards. A1 cards are faster in the Pi than A2 cards, and they're much faster than Class 10 cards, but they're not more reliable, and they are not nearly as...

Re: How to use RSP in company

The lack of success may well be because companies are reluctant to tell anyone--and especially customers--that their Very Expensive machine is driven by a $35 computer. Customers might start questioning why the whole machine costs as much as it does. I have very expensive commercial equipment that ...

Re: How to use RSP in company

As I remember, Sony in UK is using RPi for sorts of production monitoring....claiming it saved the company a substantial amount (can remember the ball park figure). It was published in the internet... forgot the link though. ....and there were some questions in the forum how to interface the RPi to...

Re: How to use RSP in company

It might help if you tell us what RSP stands for (the only thing vaguely RPi related I can think of is Role Swap Protocol), and which company are you talking about? Hello Paeryn, I am sorry, I wanted to ask about RaSpberry Pi. Kazuya Best I can see is it being a non-standard reference to R a S pber...

Re: Is it possible to connect to "OCuLink SSD" on Raspberry Pi?

There are "High Endurance" micro SD cards for high write use cases, and "Industrial" rated cards for environment extremes. Neither will provide the best performance, though. Best performance will be from "A1" app performance rated micro SD cards or USB SSD (which are only slightly faster due to USB...

Re: Is it possible to connect to "OCuLink SSD" on Raspberry Pi?

My RSP is 3.0 and installed the Raspbian. Is it possible for me to establish the environment as same as you? Thank you. Kazuya. Assuming you mean the model 3B, the Raspberry Pi 3B can have USB boot enabled by setting a special OTP bit (also applies to the 2Bv1.2). The newer 3B+ model has that enabl...

Re: Is it possible to connect to "OCuLink SSD" on Raspberry Pi?

The Raspberry Pi 4 computers can only use micro SD cards or USB drives (so, no OcuLink). Also, the Pi4 does not currently support booting from USB, although that feature will be added in a future firmware update, after network booting. Although, for your company, network booting might be a preferab...

Re: Is it possible to connect to "OCuLink SSD" on Raspberry Pi?

If the OP is referring to the device described at https://akiba-pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/news/1202373.html, then no model of RPi released to date can use that directly. See also https://blog.fosketts.net/2017/06/22/what-is-oculink/ Dear drgeoff, Thank you again for your comments here. The w...

Re: Is it possible to connect to "OCuLink SSD" on Raspberry Pi?

Do you know what chipset the adapter uses? Try "lsusb" at a command prompt. Generally speaking, the ASMedia and VIA controllers work well, the JMicron ones do not. Dear Fraoch, Thank you for your comments. I am sorry, I do not input the lsusb command. I will keep in mind about the lsusb command and...

There is a Japanese sub-forum with some very active posters. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=82
Dear drgeoff,

Thank you for your reply for my confirmation.

I did not know Japanese forum existed.
I will go around both EN/JP sites from now.
