Re: Stretch and libGLESv2.so (and libEGL.so)

I've observed the same thing after updating to stretch. Note that there are mesa packages which provide libGLESv2.so, but those are obviously using mesa and not the VC specific stuff, and won't work in conjunction with the VC display manager. There are still static libraries in /opt/vc/lib, with the...

Re: How to use OpenGL

In my experience, one of the main hurdles for low-level graphic programming is the math. You really need some understanding of linear algebra, matrices and vectors. And OpenGL is another beast of its own. To make matters worse, there are many different "flavors" of OpenGL. WIth desktop GL, there are...

Re: OpenGL development

OK, it turned out all the remaining glitches were caused by a single thing: mipmapping. So now I have it barely working on the RPi 8-)

Re: New Open GL Driver, Bug report thread

I'm not sure what kinds of bugs are expected to be reported here. Thing is, the wiki page for the VC4 driver https://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/VC4/ already mentions conformance testing using piglet and also list a lot of stuff which is not working / incomplete. I could report a few GL issues I've enc...

Re: OpenGL development

It's good that people are trying these big packages and that seem to work, but I'm more interested in hearing from people that are writing their own OpenGL code. Out of curiousity, I did play a bit with the GL driver on the Pi and my own code. My experiences so far are: stuff working with the old f...

Re: GAMES LIST: Games That Work On The Pi

Thanks for updating this.I think this was a spelling error, because "Descent" is just a name in this case. But whatever. 8-)

Note that you now have written "Descent I & I", which is also some kind of error

Re: GAMES LIST: Games That Work On The Pi

Can you update the list regarding Descent I and II? First of all, it is spelled "Descent", not "Descend" as you currently put it ;) Also, you don't neccesarily have to buy it. You can play the shareware version of D1 and the demo of D2 for free. I also made binary packages for raspibian (both for th...

Re: Prepare for Descent

Well, it is hard to tell what exactly is going on in your case. But since none of the GLES applications seem to work, I think it is fair to say that this is not a descent-specific issue. When even the basic "hello_triangle" examples don't run, there must be something fundamentally wrong. I've never ...

Re: Prepare for Descent

Has anybody gotten this to work on the Pi2B? I'm running Jessie. Well, there is a report of this running on the Pi2 already in this thread. Dunno about the Jessie part. THis was built for raspbian wheezy. Has anybody gotten this to work on the Pi2B? I'm running Jessie. All these attempts have resul...

Re: Prepare for Descent

The dxx-rebirth source code has undergone some serious changes in the previous years. The code is now C++ (which unfortunately implies a dramatic increase of the compile time on the RPi). However, I updated the code to make it compile on the RPi again. My changes can be found here: https://github.co...

Re: Prepare for Descent

Hi, Thks derhass for your .deb files, but I get an error on d1x-rebirth with Raspberry Pi 1 Model B & 2: with -verbose -debug: Going into graphics mode... Doing gamedata_init...Bus errorE to window of dimensions 640x48040x480) Hmm, I can confirm this. There must be something wrong with the package. ...

Re: Prepare for Descent

Sorry for the late response. I actually did plan on making some raspbian packages. What came out of it can be found here: https://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~heinm/dxx/deb/ However, I'm not experienced with building debian packages, so consider these preliminary, and use them with care. Re: Prepare for Descent

NOTE: In contrast to a build on an ubuntu 12.04LTS machine, I did see a lot more warnings when compiling on the RPi... But as long as it can link a binary.. you should have a working program. I've attached my build's STDOUT/STDERR from the console window. So let's have a look at the warnings you go...

Don't worry. We will get this running. PS, I've successfully (I hope) compiled. Copied over the filed to the share folder from the CD (installed on Windows first to extract). Re: Prepare for Descent

Hi there, PS, not sure if I can figure out how to patch it. When I type out the patch command, the terminal just stays blank. :/ No output on unix usually means sucess, btw. ;) But, first of all: which version did you (try to) patch? With the current 0.58.x release, you do not need to patch anything...

To give a short status update: The rpi support for d1x/d2x can now be found in the d1x-rebirth/master and d2x-rebirth/master branches of the git repo at https://github.com/dxx-rebirth/dxx-rebirth . These branches are the basis for the upcomong 0.58 release of the game, so there will be an "official"...

Re: Any window managers more lightweight than Fluxbox?

I'm a big fan of ctwm. It is basically a twm with the additional feature of supporting different "workspaces" (or "virtual desktops", or whatever you like to call it). I use it since 15 years or so, and probably will be using it in 15 years still. I used it on my first PC (a Pentium 60MHz with 8MB R...

well on the upside Ive stopped being stupid and set my memory to 128/128 and guess what now I get a display :) , so now it just seems to be your issue of optimizations with gcc which is stopping full speed, although , I was running d1x-rebirth with graphic filters as high as i could go and it was r...
