Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

I can't quite figure out the height the other players I tested (omxplayer / metaplayer) are playing 16:9 576i at but I believe it's frame output is 720 x 405 ? Gstreamer is just taking the 720 x 576 dimensions and playing at that size which is a 4:3 dimension correct ? The requirement is to output 1...

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

OK. I've worked out what is required now. It needs to output the raw 720 x 576i as is, to be fed into the SDI box. So on my monitor it should display letterboxed not stretched but apparantly with KMS the height is different to when I tested with omxplayer so there is a ratio issue. It seems the SDI ...

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

I'm given way too much conflicting info on the requirement sorry. I think these hdmi modes are not what is required as it displays letterboxed. hopefully all is needed is to force the ratio to 16:9 for 576i.

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

Im sorry I hope you can help me. This is driving me crazy now. I've been getting conflicting information from the other end. the hdmi mode forces letterboxing which is now not the requirement. The HDMI output device is a Black Magic SDI box. The source stream is 720 x 576 and needs to play fullscree...

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

I was able to build the test tool. This is a very large output. This is the output of my dev display and the remote target pi display. So the rpi boot configs for hdmi_mode do not get used for kmssink ? It seemed to do something but scaled to 4:3 with blackbars. And when I add the force mode flag it...

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

Give me a bit. I am using kmssink to output to hdmi. Its using video4linux h264 decoder. I need to use gstreamer , as the player is setup as a startup service with monitoring of failures to reconnect the stream. It's supposed to have SRT receiver support also. The legacy stuff is unsuitable. Are you...

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

This is way above my head so bare with me. Setting those modes in the config tvservice shows state 0x120009 [HDMI CEA (26) RGB lim 16:9 x4], 720x576 @ 50.00Hz, interlaced Its a 720 x 576 output required but 16:9 ratio. gstreamer currently shows the stream 4:3, I'm guessing it still needs to be fulls...

Re: Edit config.txt options via a web interface

The file needs to be placed inside /boot with the respective permissions

so

include customconfig.txt

My output is now

state 0x120009 [HDMI CEA (26) RGB lim 16:9 x4], 720x576 @ 50.00Hz, interlaced

Re: Edit config.txt options via a web interface

It didn't want to load the custom configs

include /usr/local/etc/customconfig.txt

inside that I have

hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=26

TV service shows

state 0x120009 [HDMI CEA (16) RGB lim 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 60.00Hz, progressive

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

Is there a way to change these modes via kmssink so not have to be set in the boot config, or force it 16:9 ? It's ratio output in hdmi_mode 26 is 4:3 ratio but it should be 16:9 for 576i. Are you saying also interlacing output from the interlaced source is not possible ?

Edit config.txt options via a web interface

I have a requirement to need to change the hdmi_mode to force a screen mode via a web interface. So the configurable is portable.

Is there a way to do this safely. Either a background service taking api commands or can the bootloader load user configurations from a directory ?

Re: Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

I'm using RP3 with vc4-kms-v3d enabled and KMSsink to the HDMI. OK so it will still try and output progressive even with deinterlacing disabled ? With that forced kernel mode configured it outputs in a 4:3 frame not 16:9. I believe the playback requirement is still 16:9. So if all settings are not c...

Force a 576i hdmi mode using gstreamer kmssink

I'm having difficulty finding information for this. I have a requirement to output a 576i stream in it's original format. The only way I can find is to force the monitor mode in the boot config like hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=26 This displays the video in a black frame and not stretched scaling. I notic...

I have a requirement to output the original interlaced source and I believe deinterlace is required to be turned off. How is it possible to flag to turn off deinterlacing ? Could this flag have anything to do with it ? Its used by default I just had a requirement to handle interlaced stream and not deinterlace so have to turn deinterlace off.

soft-colorbalance (0x00000400) – Use software color balance

I'll get that output soon

Blanking console temporarily during HDMI application operation

I thought I would try a more detailed explanation. GStreamer cant display black borders for scaled video with KMS. So the console text displays underneath it. I have tried this but it doesn't blank the screen, just disables cursor and keyboard, and it requires root. My service runs in a system user....

Gstreamer kmssink overlaying console text

I am trying to work out if there is a known work around. When using kmssink for HDMI output. It's overlaying the boot console text, but when scaled it's displaying behind it. For a TV it won't go fully stretched fullscreen and the text appears at the top of it. It's offset a little. Is there a way t...
