Best All Around Language to get Started?

What would you say is the most versatile language to learn from building a weather station to seeing how much water is going through a hose to updating a website with different types of data? What language is good to not overwhelm me but get my feet wet and learn enough to show the power of a Pi? I ...

Re: Apache Server, FTP -SSL Servrr, YouTubeTv, Netflix & Emulators on a Pi 4 4GB (Multiply if necessary)

Thank you for the suggestions/assistance, you all have been very kind and nice to someone that is basically in a very dark room and trying to put batteries in the flashlight. You are correct, I could have a dedicated Pi4 do a job it two and I think that is what I will do - thanks for the suggestion....

Re: Apache Server, FTP -SSL Servrr, YouTubeTv, Netflix & Emulators on a Pi 4 4GB (Multiply if necessary)

Thanks for the suggestion. Just learned that I am going to have to start doing some video editing so a machine for that will need to be built for that. This means that the Pi4 would need to run the webserver, ftp server and a be able to hopefully be able to run a browser that can efficiently run FB ...

Re: Apache Server, FTP -SSL Servrr, YouTubeTv, Netflix & Emulators on a Pi 4 4GB (Multiply if necessary)

Thanks for the responses. I was given notice that I am having to also start FHD (maybe UHD 2) video editing, so the workload has gone up exponentially.

I hope to try a Pi4 or 2 in the future but I don't think it will be as soon as I thought.

A bit embarrassed, and thanks for not making fun of me re: just a title... it was really late (for me) when I posted that and I honestly thought I deleted everything and was going to post when I had a bit more sleep, guess I was a bit more tired than I thought  . In a nutshell can a si...

Apache Server, FTP -SSL Servrr, YouTubeTv, Netflix & Emulators on a Pi 4 4GB (Multiply if necessary)

I am a complete noob when it comes to the Raspberry Pi 4 4GB hardware, so please be gentle. I am also typing this on a phone, so again, if a word is close, you can kind to what I am getting at, but I will re-read when I when I getting at wake up to re-verify. Been a long night. Also I am a Windows g...

Re: Pi4 - HDMI Audio support?

The basic VideoCore on the Raspberry Pi has not changed substantially, so it is a hardware not support issue. The is an older post here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=16821&start=175 Though if you bought a product without researching, caveat emptor applies..... Assumptions...

Re: Pi4 - HDMI Audio support?

I know it has only been a few months since my original post, but has there been any progress in this audio passthrough area?
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Pi4 - HDMI Audio support?

Thanks for the reply, I guess I am wanting too much too quick. Until the 2 more popular 7.1 lossless audio formats can be sent through a 'pass-through' option I can wait until that becomes a reality as I would rather the AVR deal w/ the audio and the Pi4 not introduce anything into the audio stream....

Re: I didn't think the usb c power thing was a big deal...

Being a noob to the Pi Ecosystem and new to the forum, I have an HDMI Audio passthrough question waiting in a queue well, because I am new, so I may as well ask this here - when the fixed boards are put out in the wild, will the fix interfere w/ the current mounting options of the Pi4? Reason I ask ...

Pi4 - HDMI Audio support?

Looking to replace my full size HTPC w/ a Pi4. Only question is audio support via HDMI output. Only need 1 that would feed into my Denon receiver but I cannot find an answer if the HDMI port supports Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio (both lossless formats) and when I upgrade audio equipment, Atmo...
