Re: Swapping SD Card from one Pi4 to another

Swapping microSD card (with raspbian buster, initial full setup done on RPi4B-4G) between RPis is how I test newly arrived RPis. always boots normally as expected, never had any problems even with RPi4, RPiZ, etc. I've done that too or cloned a card with the SD Card Copier and used the clone (and s...

Re: Swapping SD Card from one Pi4 to another

Yes, moving a card form a Pi4 to another Pi4 should not cause any issues like that. They likely had different versions of EEPROM, but could that cause an issue like this? A RPi engineer would know. I'm not sure about this, but I had thought that s part of boot up the current images checked the firm...

Swapping SD Card from one Pi4 to another

I have a Pi4-1GB that I have been using (headless) for a while but sometimes it's a bit doggy. I recently got a 2GB version to hopefully improve performance. I took the running fine SD card from the 1GB Pi and put it into the 2GB Pi. To keep it simple should this work? I'm only a novice, but I'm not...

Re: Torrent box speed & qbittorent vs deluged?

You can update to Buster from the last version, but why? It's so easy to just install new from scratch it isn't worth it IMO. The packages to install the "new" torrent box are all well known. The biggest PITA, is likely trying to migrate all your torrents. I tired to migrate from QBT to Deluge. QBT ...

Re: Notes while installing Plex Media Server on a Pi4-4Gb/Buster

Is this because you MUST be logged into the Plex portal at least initially to access anything in a PMS? Does that create some sort of "permanent" tunnel from the PMS to Plex unless you unplug the network cable?

I agree it's an issue, but I'm trying to understand this better.

Re: Image File Utilities

I went through what I THINK is this entire thread as well as perused the GitHub page. i know this page wasn't created by the developer, but is this now at least a quasi-official usage page? https://github.com/scruss/RonR-RaspberryPi-image-utils/#image-backup I am more novice than anyone here and I h...

Hi,

Booting from a PNY SSD.....
I may have been in hibernation for the last 6 months so sorry if I missed this and revived this old thread, but are you saying you booted a Pi4 from USB? I thought that feature wasn't available yet?

Re: Apple Carplay

Wow! Lot's of knowledge in this thread! I was thinking about a Pi for my car and this looks like a great jumping off point! I appreciate your feedback. First, is there any Raspbian (Linux) - based solution for CarPlay? It's not a money thing. It's a dependency thing. I try not to buy commercial buil...

Re: Dual display support in legacy driver (HDMI + DSI on RPi3)

Legacy display driver in latest Raspian BUSTER release has support for dual display. If you want to use it you will need to make a few addtional steps though because it doesn't run 'out-of-the-box'. . . . If everything is fine you should see your desktop spread across both displays So........this w...

Re: Multiple Frame buffer beta testers wanted

I could see the Screen configuration tool under Preferences, but could not find a way to enable DSI touch screen. Can you help me how to enable the DSI touch screen? Under the screen configuration tool, I could only see Composite and HDMI connections. DSI screen is on and displays all white screen....

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

A Pi 4 specific case is also available for pre-order from Argon ONE at the higher price of $25.00 on https://www.argon40.com/argon-one-pi4.html That looks like a great case! Did you notice though that it only shows a single, full sized HDMI port on the side? If it's for a Pi4 it would be great if t...
