This works locally without a central server? If yes, that's cool!

Re: Making: How to fill the gap

There is an autorouter for KiCAD (wrtitten in java) and I have used it on 2 or 3 projects when I leared KiCAD. In the end it was not worth the trouble: it generated bizzare pcbs, so all vias had to be changed by hand, so after some hours I kicked the autorouter. Problems with signal interfering star...

Without any further information this is most likely not going to attract attention.

Sorry to ask, but what should this thing do? Or what does it do that's not already available in software for free?

Do you want to hire the student and this i what he/she gets "brutto" or is this "netto" or do you expect him/her to do it as a freelancer (so he/she will effectivle work for free)?

Re: Rasberry pi and virtualhere

my 2¢: Forget android. Install plain Linux on the Pi. Check, how you have access to the data from the console. If that works you have no problem at all, just send the data encrypted to your server and you are done.

Re: Rasberry pi and virtualhere

You most likely do not want a USB-over-internet-thingie. Question is, what do you want? Would be niche if you discribe what you have and how it wrks now, then what you would like to change, and at last how you would want to to the changes.

Re: looking for sw developper web based

So there's no real realtime, it's just one user sometimes opening his webbrowser to get some data? Why don't you just use ssh instead of the whole vpn voodoo, do what ever you want over ssh and maybe write a gui client for yourself that basicly does all the "lowlevel" ssh stuff?

Re: looking for sw developper web based

PRi == RPi with 2 letters swapped :)

So that I get it: you want a HTML page with one button that should turn on something? Usually you get an ESP8266 with arduino for ~ 2 bucks + some wirings and that's it.

Re: Looking for someone to write a program for me

That's no problem at all. For PWM use analogWrite(), for the rest you'll be happy with digitalRead() and digitalWrite(). For key debouncing use delay(50) just at the end of your loop().

EDIT: you mentioned 160ms. Use millis() to build that signal - or use the TimerOne library for that.

Re: Looking for someone to write a program for me

Always follow the KISS principle - I'd say the mediacenter is less important than seat heating, so what a coincidence that the arduinos are more reliable than the PIs :)

Re: Looking for someone to write a program for me

Might be a stupid question, but why don't you use only one arduiono + sme switches or arduino + TTF + touch and leave the RPi out of the equation?

Re: Looking for someone to write a program for me

Depends on your setup. If you can place the arduino close to the actuator/motor/whatever you'll just need to get one USB cable there (shielded version). Or you can do all on one arduino, which is no big deal. Then send commands via seral. If you have more than one arduino connected, don't forget a c...

Re: Looking for someone to write a program for me

I usually seperate the controller part from the GUI. 0ne or more arduinos (e.g. mini with USB) do the hardware part, while the RPi does the GUI stuff (SSH in my case). This allows me to use sane defaults, when the RPi fails.
