Funny, this discussion is the same as it was about perl some decades ago. It's still a question of what you want to do.

Re: how to destroy your pi.....

You don't need pythion on PI at all. If you build your image with buildroot, if you use devuan, if you run FreeBSD ...

Re: Ongoing Tutoring (Paid)

My 2¢: Learn bash. Most likely you'll be able to build your project with just that. If you need GUI ... thikt twice: Can your DE/WM already do what you want to do? Look at xmessage xdialog ... If you need a IDE, you'll most likely not get happy with it running on the PI. So if you like developing on...

Re: Payment if solved !!

Well, that's no problem. When you got root access, you simply set a password for pi - and one for root that you do not use - just add some cleartext in shadow as password.

Re: Payment if solved !!

@helpaohe: yes, that's what I meant. But the line should be something like this: # /etc/shadow: root::17797:0:99999:7::: # /etc/passwd: root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash you can change that in /etc/passwd to this, then /etc/shadow will be ignored: root::0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash BTW, you'll need to log...

Re: Payment if solved !!

What about deleting the password field in /etc/shadow? I's the second enty:

Code: Select all

root:<whatever cryptic stuff here>:...
change that to

Code: Select all

root::....
Now you can log in without password FROM THE CONSOLE.

This posting is missing some vital information: What components do you want to use (if you have selected anything already), what is the status (just the idea or is there soe working code) and what's the budget.

Re: Creating a RPI-assisted microscope

Well, if you cannot "see" the carrier material your sensor is flooded by the stay light. You'd need a light source from behind your camera to see the reflective material, but that's hard to implement. RPi camera has 8 bit resolution, substract some bits for noise from that value and you will not see...

Yes, that was what I was talking about. I have the original Motorola software in the archive, but it's for Windows 95/98/2000, if I'm correct. Don't know if it will work in an emulator (have not tried)
