Re: Pi 4 with Buster - No hardware acceleration for Video/WebGL in Chromium?

This has now been clarified here https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 8&t=245388. Basically you will need LibreElec or omxplayer for 4kp60 or 1080p60 video, chromium still does not fully support hardware decoding.

Re: Rpi4 - cannot change resolution with GL driver on

Thanks a bunch for clarifying! Any idea if eventually chromium will support 4K video?

Re: Pi 4 with Buster - No hardware acceleration for Video/WebGL in Chromium?

The update seems to do nothing for being able to play 1080p60 video decently, let alone 4K video. Only 1080p30 seems to be possible without dropped frames. Has anyone been able to get the above to work or am I doing something wrong? Should not be this difficult on a device advertised to be capable o...

Re: Rpi4 - cannot change resolution with GL driver on

So turns out the latest update had disabled the 4kp60 setting, which now seems to only be available via raspi-config, no longer in the settings panel via the GUI. Upon turning it on, 60 Hz options for 4K resolutions become available via the configure display panel but this does nothing for playing e...

Re: Rpi4 - cannot change resolution with GL driver on

Also even after the latest updates, 1080p 60fps video is plain out horrible. As this has been advertised as a 4kp60 capable device would be good to at least have some sort of a timeline as when this will be possible!

Re: Rpi4 - cannot change resolution with GL driver on

Thanks for the quick reply! I just updated via apt so should have the latest firmware and chromium/settlings. However using the screen editor I only see 30 Hz options for 4K resolutions even with 4kp60 enabled. Is this something still being worked on?

Rpi4 - cannot change resolution with GL driver on

Hello everyone. I am using a 4K LG HD TV. Seems no matter what video mode I specify in config.txt the pi defaults to 3840x2160 30 Hz. No way to change this via the GUI or raspy-config - the resolution menu item in the later simply does not work. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have 4kp60 e...

Re: HELP! Rpi4 stuck at rainbow stage after firmware update.

Before Raspberry Pi4 rpi-update used to make unbootable SD cards/USB drives only. I don't know whether or not it now also writes poorly tested things into the EEPROM of a Raspberry Pi4. Try to write a new image onto your SD card and remove all USB devices except for keyboard and mouse. If that boot...

HELP! Rpi4 stuck at rainbow stage after firmware update.

Hello everyone. As I was having no luck enabling the hardware acceleration functionality in chromium, first tried using sudo rpi-update as suggested here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=244585&start=25 to update the rpi4 firmware. Everything seemed fine during the firmware u...

Re: Pi 4 firmware, software stability improvements

I can also confirm that repairing the BOOT EEPROM as described in https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=58151&p=437084&hilit=EEPROM+rpi4#p437084 and https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/booteeprom.md does not help even though the process seems to be succes...

Re: Pi 4 firmware, software stability improvements

Thanks for the reply. I have tried booting from a brand new card with the latest buster image but still stuck at the rainbow screen after: 1. installing the latest firmware via sudo rpi-update (thing went well, no errors, but hardware acceleration still not enabled, even with the disable-gpu comment...

Re: Pi 4 firmware, software stability improvements

Hello everyone. I updated the firmware as suggested in this thread using sudo rpi-update. Everything went well and was able to reboot successfully however checking hardware acceleration via chrome:\\gpu still showed same values as before even though I edited chromium-browser and commented out the —d...
