Can I update Linaro?

I have Linaro on a Pi 2, and had some confusion when I installed it as to whether a newer version was available. It works "OK," but usually when something is new, someone somewhere does some tweaking, getting a little more out of it and making things better. I haven't seen anything like that with Li...

Re: Pi 2 Raspbian chromium

Actually getting Ubuntu set up as I type this. Installed Ubuntu, resized the card and have Lubuntu loading now. I see that Linaro is Ubuntu based, but from what I gather I can install Linaro on top of Ubuntu..? Apt-get install linaro?

Re: Pi 2 Raspbian chromium

Looking at Linaro, it went to some Microsoft site. Not sure how to download and install that using my Linux system.

Re: Pi 2 Raspbian chromium

Thanks a bunch. I've been following the Linaro thread here on the forum, so far I'm only half way through the thread. It looks like a fast moving target, and I'm impressed with all they've done so far. I'll look into it and see if that's the 'shortest' route to playing video. Thanks.

Re: Newark Shipping Charges

I bought my first Pi from Newark and in the process had to create a user name and password, both of which were promptly forgotten, since I figured I'd never buy anything from them again. So when I ordered the Pi2, I couldn't complete the online order and had to do it over the phone. The sales rep fi...

Pi 2 Raspbian chromium

I just got Raspbian working on my Pi 2 and now I'm trying to get Chromium working. I want to get video working, play Youtube, etc. I probably made my first mistake when I installed Chromium and Iceweasel from the Debian repositories. I found the guide to get flash working, but Chromium does one fram...

Re: Formating a micro sd card

Got the card working by plugging it into a Windows computer. Windows 7 recognized it as unformatted and fixed it all with the speed of a million patents. Can't have too many patents, apparently.

Thanks.

Formating a micro sd card

Just got a Pi2 and I'm trying to write to a micro sd card. My old Pi was one of the first types that used a large sd card. So far I haven't had much luck getting a micro card to format. Before I'd use gparted to erase the card and partition it to ex2. so far I've tried 2 cards and have gotten one th...

Wiped the card with gparted and did a fresh download as well. Re-installed Pidora and all is well.

Thanks.

Can't login on new install

Downloaded Pidora from bittorrent, and after a successful first boot created my user name and root password, along with timezone info, etc. After rebooting, I'm stuck at the login screen, with neither my user name password working, or if I enter "root" that password not working either. Tried ctrl/al...

Can't find .img file after untarring NOOBS

I'm using a Fedora computer and have downloaded NOOBS. After untarring, I don't see any .img file to write to the SDHC card. In Downloads I have "Defaults:" and "OS" directories and inside OS I have a Raspbian directory, but there isn't any .img file in any of them. What do I look for to be able to ...

Re: install terminal and web browser to LXDE in Arc-Pi

Got it working, and I'm typing this from my Pi. I still haven't gotten LXDE to auto start, and when I use the terminal to get it started, only "xinit /usr/bin/startlxde" works. I'm going by the guide in the Arch Wiki, but when I run "exec ck-launch-session startlxde," all that haaaaaappens is that t...

install terminal and web browser to LXDE in Arc-Pi

I've got LXDE installed, but all it shows is "Run," and "Log Out." I need at least a terminal and a web browser to make it do anything, and haven't found a way to get either o f those installed yet.

Anyone else gotten either of those two items to work yet? How?

using vnc to connect to a Linux computer?

I installed vnc-server so I can see the GUI of my Pi from my Fedora laptop. I installed Tiger VNC Viewer on the laptop, but I haven't gotten it to connect to the Pi. I can get into the Pi using ssh, but now I have to figure out how to make Tiger VNC and the vncserver on the Pi work with each other. ...
