Re: Raspberry Pi 4 as a primary desktop computer?

I'm using my Pi 4 as a part time desktop with the plan of replacing my windows 7 box when that stops getting supported. I'm slowly getting used to linux. Have mine clocked to 2gig cpu and 600 gpu, temp controlled fan that keeps it nice and cool, also boots nicely from a 120gb SSD and so far so good ...

I still use WinDiskManager32 on my old Windows PC.
I also give WDM32 my vote as well. Works great for me in copying the Pi's sd card to my PC as a back up image and then also to write images to sd cards. Very simple to use.

Re: Pi4 as Desktop computer

Now all I probably should do do is write a little script to switch quickly between overclocked (for most use) and default (for GIMP and anything else we on the forum discover that causes an overload. After all, one of the purposes of Pi is 'tinkering' :-) Yes please, i'd love a copy of that if you ...

Pi Zero Video Output Question

I have a bunch of 1080p vids on a 64gb USB flash drive thingy and was wondering if i can use a basic Pi Zero to run them on a 1080p monitor?

I don't need sound with these videos i just need the pretty pictures on screen at 1080p.

Thanks.

It should be included in the rpi-chromium-mods package
Got it, many thanks. Flash player is now working after adding that.

Annoyingly it's not working on channel 4. 3307 didi rights error. They say it's a known issue and will be resolved shortly. Ho hum! :D

Re: Raspberry Pi4 bootloader update package

My apologies. I'll try keep that in mind. BTW. No need to jump ship from Windows. Both Windows and in Linux are useful tools, not to mention FreeRTOS in some cases. Thanks. My jumping ship is because Windows 7 is soon to be ended and i need a new desktop for my living room. So i got the Pi 4 now to...

You probably need to learn to follow links when they are provided. You might discover that your specific needs are all addressed there... more helpful than anything I would have written. Then please, instead of just saying that, tell me where it is that you are referring to that i need to go to hav...

I'm left wondering what is this the official Raspberry Pi foundation answer to this issue? They still haven't replied to this issue. Are they going to fix it or not? Did you read the documentation on the link provided? It gives clear instructions on how to read the configuration on the current imag...

Re: Raspberry Pi4 bootloader update package

Of course we are not ignoring issues. We keep a very close eye on stuff like this. But right now, it's the weekend, and even raspberry pi engineers need a break now and again. Official bug reporting should be via the appropriate GitHub repo. That way stuff doesn't get lost as can happen with forum ...

Re: Raspberry Pi4 bootloader update package

I used a hex editor on my laptop. I believe there are complete instructions here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/booteeprom.md Thanks jcyr, but that's not very helpful for someone who just wants to use a Pi and not have to learn to rewrite everything in hex. I'm left...

You can fix this by editing your eeprom bootloader with the following parameters: WAKE_ON_GPIO=0 and POWER_OFF_ON_HALT=1. Apparently this can cause problems with some hats, but I haven't seen any.
Thanks, but, how do i get into the eeprom to edit it, please?

Re: Raspberry Pi4 bootloader update package

I did the above update as stated. Since doing this whenever i shut down the Pi4 the monitor shuts off as usual but the Pi Ethernet light starts flashing continuously and the blue and red leds on my SSD stay on continuously - not flashing. I presume this means my Pi is not powering down properly any ...

I'm sure lots of people will be running into this today, so maybe the OP could change the title to something more informative (like "apt-get update testing to stable" and append [FIXED] as well.
